Background

Lin An began as an obsessive magical researcher focused on the Life Code, controlled evolution, and methods to reverse Bloodline Curses. His affair with Solair was transactional from the outset: she sought a cure for her daughter’s curse, while he was drawn to her beauty. By the time he was conducting long-term simulations against Herpo, Lin An had become the Arcane Empire’s Consul and later its Arcane Emperor. Lin An traveled through Amestris and Xing to acquire new alchemical knowledge, study qi, and merge Eastern and Western systems. He pressured Xing’s dying emperor into an academic exchange, then escaped after the emperor attempted to seize the secret of Pseudo-Immortality by force. 145 147
