Personality

Zoldat initially treats Cain as an overwhelmingly dangerous unknown and warns his party not to provoke him. Even so, he regrets failing to recruit Cain before Roxy does, recognizing exactly how much a Sword God could elevate the Thunder Adventurer Party. 3 5

As captain, he is pragmatic, resourceful, and loyal to his teammates. He continues trying to honor his party's promised payment to Cain and Roxy even when unpaid nobles leave the party on the verge of disbanding. 13 22 He is also a persistent gossip and provocateur, frequently teasing Cain and Roxy about their feelings; beneath the meddling, he genuinely wants them to be honest with one another. 43 49

His ambition is tempered by self-awareness. Story Role / Major Arcs

Encounter with Cain and Roxy

Zoldat witnesses Cain instantly defeat an Advanced Sword God Style adventurer and correctly identifies the Blade of Light. He warns his teammates that Cain's Battle Aura and Sword God title make him untouchable, then regrets not approaching him before Roxy forms a party with him. 3 5

During the Heavy-Armored Mud Dragon attack, Zoldat sees Cain use Blade of Light repeatedly to slaughter magic beasts that his own team can barely overcome through coordination. The sight leaves him defeated as a swordsman, but also inspires him. 6

Red Dragon Subjugation and Unpaid Rewards

Faced with a Red Dragon attack on Sharia, Zoldat asks Cain and Roxy for help because his relatively new party cannot afford to abandon the guild's defense request and risk its loan being called in. 13 He and Bruce later admire Cain's plan to kill a Red Dragon from the air and survive the fall using wind magic. 16

When Ranoa's nobles refuse to pay the adventurers, Zoldat tries to fulfill his promise to Cain and Roxy with money scraped together by his own party, even though this would force the group to disband. Cain instead leads the adventurers to reclaim their rewards. 22 23 The recovered payment saves the party from collapse. 25

Training Under Cain

After Roxy becomes a target, Cain asks to join Zoldat's party and offers to teach Zoldat swordsmanship in exchange for helping protect her. 26 Zoldat accepts Cain's punishing Battle Aura training, enduring repeated sparring defeats while trying to understand the Sword God's inheritance. 31 32

He continues training for months, gradually forming blade-like Battle Aura and cracking rock with a wooden sword. 48 53 Upon Cain and Roxy's return to Ranoa, Cain recognizes Zoldat as a Sword King and entrusts him with the legacy. 76 77

Red Dragon's Grave

Zoldat leads the Thunder Adventurer Party into the supposed A-rank Red Dragon's Grave, which proves to be an S-rank labyrinth. He adapts the team's formation around Cain's overwhelming vanguard ability and Roxy's support magic. 36 38

Although Cain and Roxy are the expedition's decisive combatants, Zoldat keeps the party organized through the dungeon's escalating dangers and helps guide the final confrontation with Flame Red Dragon Grashum. 37 42 The success contributes to the Thunder Adventurer Party's promotion to S-rank. 53

Neris's Recruitment

During the Ranoa palace incident, Zoldat defeats the blonde Water God Style Sword King who previously humiliated him. He intervenes when Cain considers killing her, persuades Cain to spare her, and brings her into the Thunder Adventurer Group. 78 Neris subsequently becomes vice-captain and Zoldat's partner. 79
