The teenage mage cast spells backwards while running, sending fireballs, lightning beams, and various other spells hurtling at the pursuers. The quiet Foxdeep Gate erupted with a series of crackling, booming noises as if it were the Lunar New Year, sounding remarkably lively at a hasty glance.

Yet only Iris, who had created all this commotion, knew that this definitely was not any sort of "liveliness"—it was the sign that her firepower output was beginning to drop, and tier-3 spells were about to run out!

"They seem to... be getting tougher." Iris muttered softly.

Another fireball flew out, detonating and bursting upon the leading dark shadow just as expected, yet it rushed out from that flame as if nothing had happened, only turning to flying ash and dissipating when a second fireball smashed head-on into its face.

When she first met them, a single fireball was all it took to settle the matter; now it took two. Would it rise to three or four fireballs that still might not cut it before long?
