The feeling of making an emergency escape from a Mindscape was certainly no easier to bear than the dizziness of entering one.
As her consciousness returned, the golden-haired fox girl practically sprang out of her chair and landed on the soft cushion Alice had prepared in advance, narrowly avoiding a hard landing on the solid floor.
Scarlet Snow was in no better shape. Her face ashen, she instinctively tried to spew a mouthful of rainbow. Fortunately, Moira reacted quickly and pulled a trash can over with his threads, sparing the isolation ward a floor full of rainbow.
Before Alice, Meteor, and the others waiting nearby could gather their wits, an even bigger commotion erupted from the monitored hospital bed:
"Waaaaaaah! Heeeeeelp!!"
Hyacinth sprang upright and instinctively assumed a shooting stance. With the ECG electrodes still attached, that movement nearly dragged the expensive monitor to the floor and smashed it to pieces.
Once again, Moira reacted with lightning speed—the psychic threads released by his psychic ability caught the monitor firmly, saving the equipment at the last possible moment.
Marigold was much quieter, but she still sat up in bed in terror, her face deathly pale and her breathing ragged. Cold sweat had nearly soaked the sheets, as though she had just woken from a nightmare.
A brief silence fell over the monitoring ward.
Hyacinth stood frozen on the bed, still holding the final shooting pose from the Phantasm Dream.
Heartmoon Fox lay face down on the cushion Alice had prepared. Falling backward earlier had jarred the base of her tail, and she was now gently rubbing her tailbone.
Marigold stared blankly at the unfamiliar monitoring ward before her, let out a long breath, and lay back on her pillow.
Scarlet Snow was still clutching the trash can and violently spewing rainbows.
