A volcanic eruption was one of the world's most dangerous spectacular sights.
Scorching lava from the Earth's core burst through the surface under immense pressure. Volcanic ash could rise ten thousand meters into the sky, blotting out the sun. It had always been the grandest disaster in countless apocalypse films; not even world-destroying floods could compare to a volcanic eruption.
But the Lava Monster that climbed up from the erupting volcano added an even more horrifying element to this apocalyptic spectacle.
Its entire body was packed with knotted muscles. Flowing lava dripped from the gaps in its heavy, sturdy scales, some of it already beginning to solidify in the cold wind, only to be melted back into lava by the monster's own blazing heat and run down through the cracks.
It looked much like a sturdy dinosaur, but its enormous body, dozens of meters tall, surpassed anything that could be called a "land creature." Lava traced flowing veins of molten fire across its body, making its already savage appearance even more murderous.
Yet the four members of the Qiu Gui Squad had no intention of retreating. The girls stood shoulder to shoulder at the rooftop's edge, watching the Lava Monster stride toward the city. The moment it reached the elevated highway at the outskirts, they unleashed a defensive barrage, pouring out Magic Cannons and Magic Missiles.
The hums and explosions rose and fell without end.
But this thin web of firepower failed to halt the monster's advance. Roaring in fury, it raised both hands and gathered a searing ball of magical energy in its mouth. A blast of fiery breath capable of melting and incinerating reinforced concrete buildings swept out, flattening the first line of defense in an instant.
