History
Criminal faction under He Datian
The Black Tiger Gang was a feared Green Mountain Town faction that ran gambling dens, pawnshops, usurious lending, medicinal-herb operations, and human trafficking. Its members invoked the gang's name to intimidate victims, claiming no one could remain within a hundred miles of Green Mountain Town after offending it. 21 52
The gang seized a herb-rich valley in the Black Mountain Range and established a guarded gathering operation there. Wang Dashan's team controlled access to the valley, while an encampment near its entrance held harvested herbs awaiting transport. 52 54 55
Feng Chen first came into conflict with the gang after killing two robbers in a town alley. He later wiped out Wang Dashan's valley team, eliminated the encampment guards, and stole the monthly herb shipment. The gang retaliated by sending Li Ergou and five men to invade Feng Chen's home, intending to kill him and assault Lin Qing'er. 21 54 55 60
The gang's attempt to trace the stolen herbs led it through Hundred Herbs Hall and Sun Wangping. Feng Chen killed the gang members stationed at the hall, infiltrated the headquarters, and confronted Sun; Sun's death later became the subject of Lin Dachen's investigation. 63 64 68
Collapse of He Datian's leadership
Feng Chen next struck the gambling house, killing Lin Dachen and the guards while taking 3,000 taels of silver. The losses forced the gang to recruit Martial Artists aggressively, but it failed to identify Feng Chen as the attacker. 73 75
He Datian attempted to preserve his life after being overpowered by Feng Chen, agreeing to pay 35,000 taels of silver. He later led elite gang members, Luo Daqian, and Zhao Qingyun into the Black Mountain Range to hunt an injured Wolf Demon. After betraying his allies, He Datian and his surviving men were killed by Feng Chen's concealed flying knives. 88 90 93 96
Feng Chen's takeover and expansion
With He Datian dead, Feng Chen infiltrated the headquarters and compelled Wang Kun to surrender. He installed himself as the new gang leader, leaving daily management to Wang Kun while requiring High-Grade Blood-Qi Medicinal Herbs and information useful to his cultivation. 101 102
Under Feng Chen's orders, the gang attacked the Zhao Clan Martial Academy overnight and absorbed its territory, businesses, cash reserves, and medicinal herbs. The takeover made the Black Tiger Gang one of Green Mountain Town's dominant forces. 109 112
Feng Chen also used the gang as an expeditionary force. He led thirty elite members into the Black Mountain Range, and later returned with the captured corpse of a Boar Demon, greatly increasing the gang's standing among the townspeople. 127 131
Reforms and anomaly incidents
After taking power, Feng Chen abolished the gang's former practice of forcing women into prostitution. Women at the brothel could choose whether to remain or leave, while the gang received a commission for providing the venue and protection. He also ordered the replacement of protection-fee collection with income from purchased rental properties. 121 144
The gang became entangled with the Sacrificial Road Anomaly when Feng Chen used condemned criminals from its dungeons as sacrifices to disperse mountain fog. An Anomaly later possessed a gang member, infiltrated the headquarters, and attacked Feng Chen; Feng Chen destroyed it with Blood Vitality Force. He ordered compensation for the dead member's family and stricter internal surveillance afterward. 140 145 146 148
Wang Kun's administration and Feng Chen's return
When Feng Chen left Green Mountain Town, Wang Kun remained in charge and swiftly executed the disloyal Zhao Xiaoliu to deter further betrayal. 155
After two months away, Feng Chen returned to find the gang more disciplined, better trained, wealthier, and more loyal under Wang Kun's management. Feng Chen revealed his True Qi Realm cultivation and considered relocating the Black Tiger Gang to Green Mountain County, where it could serve as a stable logistics network for acquiring cultivation resources. 238 239 240 243
