Background

Rebirth and early life

Li Changfeng was formerly an armed police officer who died saving a teammate during an anti-drug operation. Reborn into a poor farming household, he inherited responsibility for a bedridden elder, an academically focused younger brother, and the remaining farmland after the prior host died from overwork. His former life’s discipline and instinct to protect others kept him from abandoning the household despite resenting its burden. 1

He entered Shaolin Temple and joined the Eighteen Bronze Men Formation as its sixth-ranked member, receiving the Dharma name Jue Kong. He trained in the Eighteen Bronze Men Art and Bronze Men Stance Method, then returned home during a supply errand to find and bury his father’s body before setting out to locate Tie Niu and the others. 4

Shaolin advancement

Li Changfeng relied on the System’s experience, cultivation-point, quest, and time-acceleration functions to refine his martial arts rapidly. He initially concealed the abnormal speed of his Inner Force growth, raising less conspicuous skills rather than exposing his full strength to fellow Shaolin disciples. 18 25

After winning the Subduing Tiger Hall competition, he exchanged his rewards for the Vajra Palm of Immense Strength, Vajra Leg of Immense Power, and the Ever-Changing Star Lord Art. His master, the Hall Master of Subduing Tiger, later guided his Shaolin Dragon Grasp and entrusted him with investigating the Dragon Gate Escort Agency massacre. 60 93

Appearance

In his true form, Li Changfeng has a resolute face, a masculine and imposing bearing, and short buzz-cut hair that grew back after his time away from Shaolin. 355

  • His body is heavily tempered through the Shaolin Bronze Body Skill and later the Indestructible Divine Skill. 250 436
  • His physique became taller and more muscular through repeated Dragon Sinew Tiger Bone Pill use and intensive sword training. 249
  • As Li Xiaoyao, he disguises himself as a refined young man in white with wind-blown hair, bright eyes, sharp eyebrows, and a black-and-red longsword. 94
  • His disguise art can alter both his appearance and aura enough to evade his own master’s detection. 268 753

Personality

Li Changfeng is disciplined, persistent, and highly practical. He treats training as a necessity rather than an abstract pursuit, repeatedly enduring injuries, failed techniques, and prolonged System cultivation until he achieves a breakthrough. 219 324 627

He values loyalty and repayment. He buries his father despite their difficult circumstances, searches for endangered friends, refuses to abandon the master who treated him well, and later defines his martial path around protecting family, friends, and teachers. 4 243 818

In combat and leadership, he is confident to the point of intimidation. He often answers challenges by allowing opponents favorable conditions, then establishes authority through overwhelming force. He nevertheless respects determined adversaries, including opponents he defeats in battle. 220 221 724

Abilities & Skills

System

Li Changfeng possesses a System that tracks his attributes, fame, experience, cultivation points, missions, items, and martial skills. It lets him spend resources to improve techniques, receive rewards, fuse compatible skills, and enter time-accelerated cultivation environments. 7 14 203

  • Fused Hung Fist and Luohan Fist after completing a side quest. 14
  • Uses fame to gain cultivation points, which can be exchanged for training time or reward draws. 115 219
  • Can instantly assimilate martial-skill proficiency through experience expenditure, though doing so can overwhelm him with memories. 203

Draconic Elephant Prajna

Li Changfeng’s principal cultivation method enhances his Inner Force, physique, and destructive strength. Its manifestations take the form of dragon-and-elephant phantoms; each higher level increases the number and force of those manifestations. 15 273 682

  • Savage Elephant Tramples the Heavens — fourth-level technique that releases a radial shockwave through a stomp-and-fist motion. 136
  • Can reinforce the Vajra Palm of Immense Strength with dragon-elephant True Qi and a Vajra manifestation. 100 266
  • At the eleventh level, it grants 110,000 jin of strength and a crushing, condensed force. 682
  • Its final stages require rare medicinal ingredients; Li Changfeng sought materials to advance toward the thirteenth level. 735

Indestructible Divine Skill

Evolved from the Shaolin Bronze Body Skill, the Indestructible Divine Skill gives Li Changfeng exceptional physical defense, resilience, and rebounding force. 249 250

  • The Shaolin Bronze Body Skill could withstand strikes from second-rate experts and generate a Vajra Arhat phantom. 73 34
  • The second layer of the Indestructible Divine Skill allowed him to take attacks below Grandmaster level directly on his chest without injury. 436
  • His Adamantine Body Force can form an Indestructible Body that blocks ambushes and sends attackers back with recoil. 493
  • The Muscle Change Sutra further provides powerful automatic recovery during battle. 586

Dragon Subduing Eighteen Palms

Li Changfeng inherited the Dragon Subduing Eighteen Palms from Xiao Yuanfeng, who described it as a palm art whose output depends entirely on the user’s own strength. 173

  • Hidden Dragon, Do Not Act — a condensed dragon-shaped palm strike; Li Changfeng later perfected its first stance through enlightenment at the Lake of Enlightenment. 174 496
  • Flying Dragon in the Sky and Soaring Dragon Ascends — high-output palm strikes used against sneak attacks and Grandmaster opponents. 589 610
  • Repentance of the Soaring Dragon — an advanced stance empowered by Unobstructed Flow, Force Intent, and Stupa True Qi. 836
  • He trained the technique to compensate for shortcomings in raw technique and to match his expanding physical power. 174 496

Dominating Leg Technique

A Primal Chaos Martial Skill granted by Old Mo, the Dominating Leg Technique is powerful but difficult to control and consumes immense Inner Force. Its chaotic backlash repeatedly injured Li Changfeng during training. 218 219

  • One Success Achieved Over Ten Thousand Corpses — the first stance, eventually mastered after more than half a year of failed practice. 219
  • Straight Step to Heaven — produces thousands of violent leg shadows. 541
  • I Command the Wind and Clouds, I Soar Above the Heavens — a descending barrage of agile, defense-targeting kicks supported by afterimages. 538
  • The technique can shatter defensive Qi barriers and overwhelm opponents through continuous heavy strikes. 413

Swordsmanship and Sword Intent

Li Changfeng is proficient in multiple sword arts, but Heavy Sword, No Edge became his defining sword style. It complements his massive strength and converts accumulated Sword Intent into destructive attacks. 249 360

  • Mountain-Splitting Strike — first stance of Heavy Sword, No Edge. 249
  • Mountain Shattering, Earth Rending — drives magma-infused sword Qi underground, erupting beneath the target. 256 360
  • He initially entered the realm of Sword Intent by drawing and sustaining one-third of his available intent; even that fraction exceeded the fifth stance of Heavy Sword, No Edge in power. 507
  • He later combined edgeless Sword Intent, Force Intent, lightning power, and Unobstructed Flow in large-scale sword attacks. 839

Force techniques, movement, and concealment

Li Changfeng developed concentrated explosive power through physical labor and waterfall training, discovering that strikes must reach their peak “instantly” to maximize force. 622 627

  • Hidden Dragon Force — a merit-exchanged technique that refines the balance of speed and power; he advanced it to fifty-percent power after repeated practice against an iron tower. 668 670
  • Unobstructed Flow — Zhuge Weiwo’s force-application secret technique; it can raise a martial skill’s output to 120% when used by someone with deep Inner Force or exceptional strength. 697
  • Snow Treading Without Trace and Soaring Sky Nine Steps — movement arts used for evasive footwork, rapid aerial movement, and positioning. 262 726
  • Disguise art — changes his appearance and aura, enabling identities such as Li Xiaoyao and Wu Tiande. 94 218 268

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Yama Sword — Li Changfeng’s primary sword in later arcs; it responds to his will and possesses the potential to become a divine weapon after reforging with better materials. 587 899
  • Treasure Weapon — forged by Tie Duanfeng by fusing Li Changfeng’s two swords; bonded through Blood Essence and engraved with weight-control and Fierce Flame sword-Qi formations. 416
  • Azure Rainbow Sword — used during his Li Xiaoyao disguise and later offered as the prize in his challenge for the Thousand-Household position. 94 220
  • Buddhist Beads — blessed by the Abbot and given with his Subduing Dragon Hall chief-disciple token and monk robes. 268
  • Snow Silver Blade — exchanged from the Hall of Merit alongside the Hidden Dragon Force Jade Scroll. 668

Relationships

  • Hall Master of Subduing Dragon — accepted Li Changfeng into Subduing Dragon Hall, named him chief disciple without requiring the assessment, and later offered to take him as a closed-door disciple. 268 269
  • Abbot Hongchen — Shaolin elder who facilitated Li Changfeng’s martial-skill exchanges and recognized his potential. 60 269
  • Xiao Yuanfeng — deceased founder of the Dragon Subduing Eighteen Palms who became Li Changfeng’s posthumous master; his remaining consciousness later sparred with and advised Li Changfeng. 173 324
  • Commander Lu — Brocade-Clad Guard commander who trusted Li Changfeng, appointed him Thousand-Household Officer, and approved of his decisive methods. 218 223 243
  • Princess Minmin — political ally and martial acquaintance who exchanged skills and weapons with Li Changfeng, entrusted him with missions, and repeatedly expressed confidence in his hidden strength. 218 220 587

  • Zhou Zhiruo — identified as Li Changfeng’s confidante; he later refuses to surrender her to pursuing sect forces and protects her during the Heavenly Barrier ambush. 660 738
  • Tie Rushan — former rival who became a public ally; his support brought the Ironclad Gate closer to Li Changfeng’s side. 413 455
  • Golden Arhat and Dong Tianbao — Shaolin friends and competitive peers who fought Li Changfeng to determine seniority in their new branch. 61 268
