Background & History
Childhood and abuse
Carrie grew up under the control of her mother, Margaret White, a religious fanatic who treated puberty, sexuality, and ordinary self-expression as sinful. Margaret isolated Carrie from normal social life, beat her with a Bible, and confined her in a cramped prayer closet or “Reflection Room” for perceived sins. Years of abuse left Carrie intensely timid, insecure, and convinced that others saw her as a “freak.” 5 9 10
At school, she was a routine target for bullying. Edward and Frank first encountered her while she was being shoved around by a group of punks; Carrie refused Edward’s offer to walk to school with them and fled in panic. Frank’s reaction to her name reflected local rumors that people who mistreated her later suffered strange misfortune. 5
Shelter with the Connors
Edward began intervening in Carrie's life to prevent the destructive fate he associated with her uncontrolled power. He defended her from Chris and other bullies during volleyball, encouraged her to trust herself, and gave her a first moment of public success. 6 7
After Margaret violently confronted her at home, Carrie fled to an abandoned warehouse, where Edward told her that being different did not make her a monster. He brought her to the Connor household when she refused to return home. Sarah welcomed Carrie, listened to her account of abuse, and resolved to seek legal protection for her. 8 9 10
Margaret was subsequently deemed mentally unstable and sent to a psychiatric hospital, while Carrie stayed with the Connors. 12
Training and growing independence
Malkis taught Carrie the basics of telekinetic control, while Edward emphasized patience, precision, and the ability to stop her power as deliberately as she used it. Her early training transformed uncontrolled emotional outbursts into conscious manipulation of objects. 12 17 40
Edward later subjected her to fear-based illusion training in the forest. Carrie learned that panic scattered her power, while concentration allowed her to focus it; she completed the exercise by destroying a large boulder. 26
By the time of the haunted-house attack, Carrie could act decisively under pressure. She stopped a falling axe inches from her head, froze a corridor full of deadly traps, and subdued a masked killer without Edward directly intervening. 66 67
Robichaux Academy
Carrie eventually enrolled at Robichaux Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies in New Orleans. Although initially awkward around classmates such as Madison, Queenie, and Nan, she became brighter, made friends, and continued refining her Telekinesis. 188 189 247
When Madison disappeared at a dangerous party, Carrie recognized the threat, contacted Edward, and helped remove Madison from the scene. She later withheld Edward’s involvement from Headmistress Cordelia Foxx. 360 361
Appearance
Carrie is a slender blonde girl with fair skin, delicate features, and bright eyes that were initially dominated by fear. 5 65
- Initially wears a faded old tracksuit and keeps herself withdrawn from attention. 6
- Later appears in clean dresses with neatly combed hair, reflecting her improved confidence and living conditions. 40
- Wore a black witch’s robe, pointed hat, and wand for Halloween. 65
- At Edward’s party, she wore a pale-yellow dress and remained reserved despite being more comfortable around others. 198
Personality
Carrie begins as deeply fearful, apologetic, and socially withdrawn. She expects cruelty from others, struggles to accept help, and is terrified of returning to Margaret’s control. 5 8 9
Kindness has a profound effect on her. Edward’s reassurance, Sarah’s protection, and practical training gradually give her self-worth and confidence. She remains shy—particularly when praised or around Edward—but no longer retreats from every threat. 12 26 40
She is compassionate and protective by nature. At Oak Creek, she follows Lily, Emma, and Esther into danger out of responsibility, shields strangers from monsters, and prioritizes getting the younger girls safely back to camp even while exhausted. 100 101 102
Carrie is strongly attached to Edward and feels safe in his presence. Her feelings are romantic, though she remains nervous and easily flustered around him. 189
Abilities & Skills
Telekinesis
Carrie can influence physical objects with her mind, ranging from delicate household tasks to large-scale restraint and violent combat applications.

- Manipulates heavy objects such as fire hydrants, boulders, and eventually cars. 24 26 49
- Can immobilize people and dangerous mechanisms, including Ghostface, swinging axes, and a masked killer. 13 67
- Uses environmental control tactically, such as deflecting attacks and forcing enemies off balance. 102 103
- Can direct multiple firearms with enough precision to turn every agent’s gun toward its wielder. 412
- Excessive output can leave her exhausted or unconscious, especially in her earlier stages of training. 13 26 102
Fine Flame Manipulation
Carrie can use her telekinetic control to hold and shape flame into small animal-like forms.
- Requires exceptional concentration and precision compared with moving solid objects. 24
- Demonstrates that her power can manipulate subtle, unstable matter rather than only large physical targets. 24
Telekinetic Flight
Carrie has trained in aerial movement through Telekinesis.
- Edward demonstrates flight by using Telekinesis to counter gravity around both of them. 24
- Her first flight gives her a powerful feeling of freedom and hope. 25
