The family was eating dinner, chatting and laughing as they watched television.
The news happened to cut to the Century Physics Conference in Shanghai. Chen Yushan stopped moving her chopsticks, her eyes glued to the screen.
Noticing the longing on his daughter's face, which seemed almost to glow, Chen Baohua felt something he could not quite describe. Still, he teased her.
"You didn't go with him?"
Sighing with a little regret, Chen Yushan replied somewhat dispiritedly.
"I was planning to go with him... but something suddenly came up at work, and I had to come to Shangjing on a business trip. So he had to go alone."
She had even booked her maglev ticket to Shanghai, and had felt quite depressed about it for a while.
Lu Zhou, however, had comforted her very thoughtfully, saying that watching on television was no different from being there in person. No matter how far apart they were, their hearts would always be close together.
She had to admit, he was getting better and better at sweet-talking girls.
And so the two had temporarily parted ways. Lu Zhou went to Shanghai, while she came to Shangjing.
Since she rarely came home, Chen Yushan had decided not to stay at a hotel, lodging with her parents instead.
In the past, she had disliked coming back except for holidays, because her elders were always pestering her about marriage.
This time, though, she had far fewer reservations.
If anyone asked again, she could proudly tell them that she already had a boyfriend!
