Shanghai International Convention and Exhibition Center.
Two days had passed since the Century Physics Conference ended. Most of the posters in the exhibition area had been taken down, but some IMCRC staff and physicists who had yet to leave could still be seen at the venue.
And so could the reporters who had come to interview them.
"This is Fox News. We're currently outside the Shanghai International Convention and Exhibition Center. The physicists who attended the Century Physics Summit here have been leaving one after another, but some scholars are still reluctant to go. Let's interview a few of them... Hello, sir." Spotting a tall, thin man nearby who looked rather scholarly, the reporter wandering outside the convention center held out his microphone. "Hello, sir. Are you a member of the IMCRC staff?"
Pushing his glasses up his nose, Professor Pierce looked the reporter up and down before saying, "No, I'm a professor of high-energy physics at the University of Oxford... Can I help you?"
The reporter asked, "What exactly happened here? The Century Physics Conference ended two days ago. Why are so many people still reluctant to leave?"
"I still have some unfinished business with a research institution at Stockholm University, so I'll probably be staying in Shanghai for another two days or so." Following the reporter's gaze toward the people nearby, Professor Pierce immediately understood what he wanted to know. "Of course, some people are staying because... they hope Professor Lu will stay."
The reporter asked, "I heard that many people in the physics community were surprised by Professor Lu's resignation from his position at the IMCRC?"
Professor Pierce replied, "That's right."
The reporter asked, "In your opinion, what kind of impact might this have on the IMCRC?"
Professor Pierce thought for a moment before speaking.
"It's hard
