Lu Zhou glanced at the screen in surprise and set down his coffee cup.

"Are you sure he's claiming to have proved it, rather than offering a possible approach to a proof?"

"Yes... The author claims to have solved the mass gap problem for the Yang–Mills equations, and he's no lightweight, either." Luo Wenxuan scanned the author's information and continued in disbelief, "Brian Caro, professor at the University of Oxford, fellow of the Royal Society and member of the European Academy of Sciences. He contributed to research that helped lead to the discovery of the Higgs Boson, and he's received five honors, including the Newton Medal awarded by the British Physical Society... Incredible. He's already sixty."

Sixty was not the prime age for physics research, though it was hardly old enough for memory decline. Even so, producing such a result at that age was no small feat.

However, perhaps because Lu Zhou knew little about the theoretical physics community, he had never heard of Professor Brian Caro.

After listening to Senior Brother Luo finish reading his résumé, Lu Zhou paused before asking another question.

"Has he released the paper as a preprint, or just the abstract?"

Luo Wenxuan clicked the mouse twice. "The preprint is already out."

Although this was relatively rare in mathematics, it was nothing unusual in physics. In theoretical physics in particular, even many veteran professors liked to post preprints of their research on major problems to stake their claims, lest someone else in the same field beat them to it.

After all, results were so difficult to produce in this field that falling a single step behind someone else could send years of effort down the drain.
