Professor Brian Caro sat at his desk, freshly tidied up. He took one last look at the slip of paper in his hand, drew a deep breath as if he had made up his mind, then nodded to the cameraman standing by the office door.
"You can start."
The cameraman said nothing. He merely gestured to show he understood.
Looking into the camera, Professor Brian Caro fell silent for a moment before speaking.
"...To make such an accusation against a scholar's academic integrity without investigating the facts is profoundly irresponsible. Although a series of coincidences and misunderstandings led to this, I still bear a responsibility I cannot shirk."
He paused, lowered his eyes, and continued.
"I offer Professor Lu Zhou my deepest apologies for what happened some time ago."
"I know an apology cannot make up for everything, but I sincerely ask for your forgiveness."
Apologizing was not easy.
For someone as arrogant and narrow-minded as he had been, it was harder still.
But that version of him was in the past.
Over the past month or so, his research into the invariant action in toroidal Euclidean spacetime had brought him more than academic progress. He had also grown stronger in character.
It was embarrassing to admit...
But it was true. Professor Lu Zhou had taught him a vivid lesson in physics, in a way all his own...
This video was more than an apology or an expression of gratitude.
