Lu Zhou did have a personal stake in the Eastern Ring Project.

And half the reason he had pushed so hard to get the project approved was the 750 GeV Signal.

He believed the data he had calculated would not deceive him. Nor could the "errors" that appeared in two detectors be such a coincidence. Even though several LHCb experiments had yielded nothing, he still believed the problem lay in how they had searched.

He could no longer count on CERN.

He needed a Large Hadron Collider that served him completely, or at least one where he had the final say. Only then could he carry out experiments exactly as he envisioned them.

Of course, if he wanted to turn those plans into reality, he first had to do a good job with what was in front of him.

In mid-October, the New Energy Vehicle Industry Summit opened as scheduled.

Leading figures from the domestic auto industry, academic leaders from relevant university research institutes, and investors interested in the field all gathered in the city.

With the invitation his senior had helped secure for him, Lu Zhou arrived at the summit venue.

He showed his invitation to the reception staff and was about to enter when a greeter standing beside the entrance stopped him.

"Sir, your seat is this way."

Lu Zhou glanced down the corridor she indicated, puzzled.

"Isn't the audience seating over there?"

The greeter said politely, "Your invitation is for the invited experts' section, to the right of the podium. Please take the corridor on the right to its entrance."

Lu Zhou opened the invitation and looked. Sure enough, "Invited Expert" was printed along the side.

"That's a thing?"

The greeter looked torn between laughter and disbelief. "Sir, did you not read your invitation after receiving it?"
