At a press conference in the SpaceX headquarters building, Elon Musk stood before the audience and the cameras of reporters from major media outlets. Dressed in his signature Silicon Valley style, he laid out the company's vision for the future in his distinctive, persuasive voice.
Behind him, a sleek silver spacecraft shaped like a bullet filled the screen. Against a backdrop of blue Earth and boundless space, it soared onward, trailing a long arc of light.
The side of the spacecraft bore the SpaceX logo and three letters: BFR.
Those three letters were the focus of the press conference.
