Ever since receiving Professor Wu's email, Lu Zhou's mind had already flown all the way to Jinling, even though he was still attending the conference in Shangjing.
On the day the conference ended, Lu Zhou rushed to Capital Airport immediately after delivering his closing remarks and boarded a flight back to Jinling.
As soon as the plane landed, Lu Zhou left the airport without even stopping at home to drop off his luggage. He simply asked Wang Peng to drive him straight to the Jinling Institute for Advanced Study.
He hurried to the Carbon-Based Semiconductor Laboratory without a moment's delay. Just as he stepped through the entrance, Professor Wu Tianqun was busy working around a piece of experimental equipment with his students and researchers.
When Professor Wu saw Lu Zhou in the doorway, he froze for a second before speaking in surprise.
"Academician Lu? You're already... back from Shangjing?"
If he remembered correctly, he had just seen this eminent scientist on a live CCTV News broadcast that morning...
"I just arrived in Jinling and couldn't wait to come over," Lu Zhou said succinctly. He glanced at the experimental equipment behind Professor Wu, then asked, "I haven't interrupted your experiment, have I?"
"No, not at all." Professor Wu Tianqun shook his head and smiled. "We just finished the experiment and are collecting the data. Your coming at this point won't affect much."
"Good, as long as I haven't interrupted anything." Lu Zhou nodded, then asked eagerly, "Where's the Carbon-Based Chip? That's what I came for."
Hearing Lu Zhou ask about it, Professor Wu Tianqun smiled with an expression that said he had expected as much.
"The Carbon-Based Chip is in the laboratory next door. I locked it in the sample cabinet for safety. Please follow me!"
