History

Servant Compound

Wang Dong was one of the few servants who did not mistreat Shen Yuan after Shen Yuan’s cultivation was destroyed. He later explained that Shen Yuan had secretly helped him when he was being bullied, motivating Wang Dong to return the favor. 10

After Shen Yuan publicly repelled Zhou Hu, Wang Dong approached him privately, warned him that Liu Er would retaliate, and revealed the upcoming Outer Sect Assessment. His warning gives Shen Yuan a path to escape servant status and investigate the destruction of his innate foundation. 10

When Shen Yuan needed an inner breath method, Wang Dong suggested obtaining the Azure Cloud Breathing Formula, then gathered incomplete verses from old servants after Shen Yuan refused to steal Liu Er’s copy. Those fragments enabled Shen Yuan to derive the Azure Cloud Inner Breath Art. 11

Outer Sect Assessment

Wang Dong helped Shen Yuan confront Liu Er’s registration obstruction by gathering servants who resented the steward as public witnesses. 12

Before the assessment, he supplied detailed intelligence on likely opponents and Zhao Kun’s planned interference. He also prepared dried rations for Shen Yuan after warning that Liu Er might tamper with sect-distributed food and water. 14

Wang Dong entered the assessment himself primarily to accompany Shen Yuan. He was eliminated in the preliminary finals by a Body Tempering Seventh Stage opponent, but immediately gave Shen Yuan his saved qi-and-blood pills for the remaining matches. 15 18

During Shen Yuan’s advance through the tournament, Wang Dong treated his wounds, guarded him during meditation, and defended him when Zhao Kun’s confidant revived the old accusation that Shen Yuan had stolen cultivation manuals. 17

Liu Er’s Downfall

Wang Dong discovered that Liu Er was preparing a desperate night attack to prevent Shen Yuan from completing his wager. Following Shen Yuan’s instructions, he remained at a distance and fetched an Outer Sect patrol once fighting began. 19 20

His intervention allowed the patrol to arrest Liu Er’s attackers and uncover correspondence linking Liu Er to Zhao Kun’s suppression of Shen Yuan. 20

Framed Theft Case

After Shen Yuan became the top Outer Sect disciple, Wang Dong was assigned to collect intelligence on the Azure Cloud Sword Formation. Zhao Kun’s agents exploited this task to frame him for stealing medicinal pills and possessing a forged storehouse token. 25 26

Despite being chained, bruised, and threatened with crippling and expulsion, Wang Dong urged Shen Yuan not to abandon the Inner Sect Test for his sake. He provided the identifying details of the intermediary who lured him into the trap, including a brown birthmark behind the man’s left ear and a distinctive rising speech pattern. 26

Shen Yuan ultimately recovered the forged token and incriminating notes, proving that Zhao Kun had orchestrated the framing. Wang Dong was exonerated and released, while Zhao Kun was punished and Liu Er was expelled from the sect. 29

Preparation for the Inner Sect Test

Wang Dong continued supporting Shen Yuan’s Meridian Opening breakthrough by searching for spirit medicines, helping procure substitute herbs, and guarding the courtyard through Shen Yuan’s dangerous seclusion. 30 32 33 34

Following Shen Yuan’s breakthrough, Wang Dong delivered extensive intelligence on the Azure Cloud Sword Formation and warned that Xiao Wuji could modify its seventh layer into a lethal trap. He later returned with urgent information shortly before the Inner Sect Test. 35
