Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Phantom Earth Book | 80 | Liu Yuanchen condenses four restrictions from earth-element spiritual energy, Pure Yin Water, and Pure Yang Qi, then merges the completed phantom into his Blessed Land’s spatial barrier. It grants the Blessed Land portability at the cost of consuming its energy. 80 |
| Replica Earth Book | 84 | After more than a year of nurturing, it becomes a physical Blackgold Stone-like scroll and gains the Blessed Land Main Spirit Vein’s first mark. Its barrier withstands Mingyu’s full-force attack, at least matching a mid-grade second-order artifact. 84 |
| Vein-marked replica | 90 | Retains an Earth Vein Mark after being placed in an Earth Vein Spirit Eye, enabling it to draw external energy for the Blessed Land even after relocation; output weakens with distance. 90 |
| Authority treasure | 218 | The Coiled Dragon Mountain Mark allows it to execute Liu Yuanchen’s Mountain God Heavenly Dao Authority at vastly amplified power and replenish expenditure with Earth Vein Baleful Intent rather than Incense Silver. 218 |
| Cross-space vein connection | 238 | The Earth-Spirit Dragon-Transformation Secret Art enables Spirit Vein Marks to establish stable energy links with the Earth Book regardless of spatial distance. 238 |
| Earth Book of the Origin Spirit Realm | 393 | The Ancestral Earth Vein Mark becomes a True Imprint, expanding its mark-placement range from 300 li to 10,000 li and initiating a major transformation. 393 |
| Spirit Treasure Artifact Embryo | 394 | Its four simplified inscription runes collapse and reform as forty-eight Acquired Treasure Restriction Prototypes; though still a fifth-rank artifact, it gains law fragments and the foundation of a spirit treasure. 394 |
| Sixth-rank magical artifact | 402 | Advancement doubles the output of its Ancestral Vein Imprint and strengthens its restriction prototypes; its defenses withstand Zhao Hong’s full assault at peak Seventh Realm strength. 402 |
| Merit Spirit Treasure / Acquired Spirit Treasure | 490 | All forty-eight Acquired Treasure Restrictions reach completion. It gains active automatic defense and seventh-grade laws, placing it on par with the Sea-Calming Pearl and Jadeglow Twofold Ceremonial Lamp in treasure-restriction grade. 490 |
| Innate Spirit Treasure | 584 | When Dongyang Realm advances into a Lesser Thousandfold World, the Earth Book merges with Innate Origin and receives Heavenly Dao power and Earth Turbid Qi. It gains an Innate Treasure Restriction and self-repairing properties. 584 |
Background
The original Earth Book is Grand Immortal Zhenyuan’s Dao-Proving Treasure, formed from the Earth Embryonic Membrane of the Primordial Land. Its surface records the Primordial Land’s mountains, rivers, Spirit Veins, and Earth Veins; it can investigate and influence them while drawing upon the land’s power for defense. 79
After Dongyang Blessed Land advances from a Spirit Realm, Zhenyuan’s Dao lecture teaches Liu Yuanchen the Earth Book Refinement Method. Liu refines a replica using his Blessed Land’s spatial barrier, five-element spiritual energy, Pure Yin Water, and Pure Yang Qi. 79 80
The replica’s exceptional growth is tied to its materials and environment. It is nurtured within Dongyang Blessed Land’s barrier, which contains Blackgold Stone later identified as Buzhou Stone—a fragment formed from Great God Pangu’s spine. 84 329
Appearance
The Earth Book manifests as an earthy-yellow scroll with a texture resembling Blackgold Stone. 84
- Its early physical form bears dim vein-like marks corresponding to connected Spirit Veins. 84
- After becoming an Acquired Spirit Treasure, it continuously radiates golden light resembling Merit Golden Light. 490
- As an Innate Spirit Treasure, its surface is suffused with earth-yellow immortal radiance. 587
- Its internal marks are divided into three layers: Dongyang Realm marks, Origin Spirit Realm marks, and marks belonging to other Grotto-Heavens and worlds. 463 589
Abilities & Functions
Spirit Vein and Earth Vein Marks
The Earth Book records the Spirit Veins, Earth Veins, Dragon Veins, mountains, and waterways with which it has established a connection.
- A retained vein mark lets it draw spiritual energy or Earth Vein Baleful Intent from the original vein; early output declines with distance. 90
- True Marks provide vastly more energy than illusory marks and dramatically accelerate the recovery of related functions. 302 367
- After becoming the Earth Book of the Origin Spirit Realm, marks reflect their true geographic positions rather than routing all energy through Dongyang Grotto-Heaven. 395
- Its later transformations allow it to draw power from marked veins across the Origin Spirit Realm without distance restrictions. 395
- Through the Earth-Spirit Dragon-Transformation Secret Art, it can establish a stable energy link with a Spirit Vein across space. 238
Mountains and Rivers Guard the Master
The Earth Book’s primary combat function is defense.
- It forms an earth-yellow barrier around Liu Yuanchen, initially functioning as a protective cocoon powered by the Blessed Land. 84
- When supported by external Spirit Veins, its defensive power rises drastically; with Ink-Yang Mountain’s support, it withstands an attack from the dying Luochuan Dragon King’s Dragon Pearl. 149
- Its barrier can manifest marked mountains and rivers as defensive phantoms, which actively intercept attacks. 363
- Zhao Hong fails to break its defenses even with a full assault in Zhu Yan giant-ape form; shattered Blackcloud Ridge and Luochuan River phantoms rapidly regenerate. 402
- As a Merit Spirit Treasure, it can automatically intercept underhanded attacks before they reach its wielder. 490
- Its defense is not unlimited: a powerful Devil Race strike destroys over a hundred Mountain-and-River Phantoms before its remaining force is exhausted. 554
Terrain and Vein Imprinting
The Earth Book can use existing marks as templates to alter terrain and create new veins.
- The Earth Book Imprinting Technique treats the book as a seal and the land as paper, allowing terrain to be imprinted with comparatively little energy expenditure. 283
- Liu Yuanchen uses a true Earth Vein Mark to create an Earth Vein within Dongyang Grotto-Heaven. 367
- The technique can also create Spirit Veins, bypassing the natural seventh-rank limit of Spirit Veins generated from Spirit Stone Marrow. 283
- The original Earth Book can create entire mountain ranges and redirect Spirit Veins and Earth Veins across the Primordial Land. 79 283
Heavenly Dao Authority
By combining regional marks with Liu Yuanchen’s authority as a Heavenly Dao True God, the Earth Book acts as an authority treasure.
- It amplifies Coiled Dragon Mountain’s Heavenly Dao Authorities by hundreds or thousands of times compared with Liu Yuanchen’s direct use. 218
- It can replenish authority expenditure with Earth Vein Baleful Intent, reducing dependence on Incense Silver. 268
- It assists in using mountain-god powers such as earth escape, terrain growth, and Transmuting Stone into Ore. 218 223
- With True Imprints of Dongyang Lake and Qingshui River, Liu Yuanchen gains Heavenly Dao Authority over both locations and can repair underground fissures remotely. 463
Surveillance and Intelligence
The Earth Book provides reconnaissance through its geographic and vein marks.
- A true Coiled Dragon Mountain Mark allows observation of local living beings, ore veins, and underground water channels. Formations can still obstruct its sight. 395
- The Ancestral Vein Imprint reveals the state and damage of Blackcloud Ridge’s Spirit Veins and Earth Veins. 394
- Channelling Wind-Chant Beast Speech through the Earth Book extends Liu Yuanchen’s eavesdropping range to as far as 2,000 li in the Netherworld. 268
Mobility and Spatial Support
The Earth Book removes the conventional immobility of Blessed Lands and Grotto-Heavens.
- After the Phantom Earth Book is merged into the Blessed Land barrier, Liu Yuanchen can carry the Blessed Land away from its original location. 80
- It retrieves the Blessed Land from an Earth Vein Spirit Eye in only a few breaths and allows Liu to store both artifact and land in his Sea of Consciousness. 90
- It strengthens a Spirit Realm or Blessed Land’s spatial barrier and can absorb immense quantities of energy through its connection to the land. 261 84
- It can suppress a marked Grotto-Heaven’s main Spirit Vein, allowing Liu to influence or seize control of that space. 336
Qi Seals
Grand Immortal Zhenyuan teaches Liu Yuanchen two restrictions associated with the Earth Book.
- Qi-Locking Seal — prevents a greater world from excessively siphoning Innate Primordial Qi from a Grotto-Heaven; overuse can incur karmic consequences. 331
- Qi-Gathering Seal — gathers scattered Innate Primordial Qi into the Earth Book or a Grotto-Heaven, but misuse can harm the Grotto-Heaven’s foundation. 331
Enfeoffing Terrestrial Deities
The Earth Book eventually demonstrates the ability to confer divine offices.
- Liu Yuanchen theorizes that any location represented by a Mountain-and-River Mark may be eligible for the appointment of mountain gods, land gods, or water gods. 463
- He appoints Venerable Sea Severing as the Heavenly Dao True God of Salt Marsh Lake, granting him rain- and wind-calling authority. 504
- Its authority over mountains, rivers, and landforms can override the practical influence of Divine Court-invested terrestrial gods. 490
Relationships
- Liu Yuanchen — Refiner, wielder, and master of the Replica Earth Book; it serves as his natal artifact and the foundation of his land-, vein-, and authority-based methods. 80 402
- Grand Immortal Zhenyuan — Owner of the original Earth Book and source of the Earth Book Refinement Method, Imprinting Technique, and Qi Seals. 79 283 331
- Dongyang Realm — The Earth Book’s original nurturing ground and principal foundation; its advancement directly elevates the artifact’s potential and eventually enables its reversal to innateness. 490 584
- Mountain-Driving Whip — The Earth Book’s companion spirit treasure; it can alter terrain and borrow the Earth Book’s Mountain-and-River Phantom power. 617
Trivia
- The original Earth Book is ranked alongside the Heavenly Book, the Investiture List, and the Human Book, the Book of Life and Death. 79
- The replica’s rapid development is attributed in part to Buzhou Stone, which had already fused into Dongyang Blessed Land’s spatial barrier before the Earth Book was refined. 329 330
- Grand Immortal Zhenyuan warns Liu Yuanchen not to spread the Earth Book Refinement Method, since a sufficiently developed Earth Book can destroy Spirit Veins and Earth Veins or extract Innate Primordial Qi from an Ancestral Vein. 591
