Background

The Witch Race once occupied the entire Origin Spirit Continent, forcing the Demon Race into the Four Seas. Its individual experts exceeded the Demon Race's divine beasts, but its population could not keep pace with the demons' mixed-blood reproduction strategy. A high-ranking Witch Race member required roughly five to six thousand years to produce a descendant, ultimately allowing the Demon Race to reverse the war's demographic balance. 192

To compensate, the Witch Race interbred with humans and created the Witch-Humans. These descendants retained extraordinary vitality and potential but were considered inferior laborers and soldiers by many pure-blooded Witches. Dissatisfied Witch-Humans and humans later formed the Witchfolk Tribe, though it remained a Witch Race vassal. 192 193

The ancient Witch-Demon War in the Origin Spirit Realm was likely a minor front of the greater Primordial World's conflict. Although the Witch Race held an advantage in high-level combat power, its slow reproduction led to defeat; it withdrew into the Netherworld around 130,000 years ago rather than being exterminated. 192 280 297

After retreating, the Witch Race supported humanity's rise against the Demon Race. Its aid was self-serving: it supplied inheritances, installed the Divine Court as a proxy, and used the Investiture List, God-Striking Whip, and Treasure-Gathering Basin to siphon Human Race Incense Merit for over 20,000 years. The stolen merit both weakened humanity's fortune and offset the Witch Race's own Karmic Force. 317 511

Liu Yuanchen exposed this arrangement, dismantled the Divine Court's hidden controls, and defeated the Earth Witch expert Genfu. The Witch Race subsequently abandoned open hostility, returned the God-Striking Whip, and entered a formal Human–Witch alliance against the Demon Race. 514 521 522 523

Physiology and Lineages

Pure-blooded Witches generally possess human-like forms marked by traits of their respective Ancestor Witches. Their vitality, blood, and physical strength are exceptionally powerful; even True Dragons are described as falling far short of a pure-blooded Earth Witch's aura. 513 516

Witch Patterns

Witch Patterns are the race's means of integrating laws and divine abilities into the physical body. They resemble the Demon Race's Life Patterns and are called “Law Patterns” by later Physical Body Path cultivators. 246 417

The Nine Heaven-Cleaving Forms are Pangu-derived axe techniques retained by the Witch Race. Their true power depends on a compatible Pangu origin. 320 524

Following the Human–Witch alliance, the Witch Race agreed to provide material support, distract Demon Race forces in the Netherworld, and jointly guard designated trade ports. In return, the Human Race resumed sending yin souls to the Netherworld's Reincarnation system. 522 523

Under Hun Yu's leadership, Witch Race Earth Immortals joined Liu Yuanchen's assault on the Dragon Race's Netherworld stronghold. Their Twelve-Celestial Capital Gods and Fiends Formation shattered the Ten Thousand Dragons Sea grand formation, while Liu Yuanchen supplied Earth Turbid Qi to sustain their Astral Force. 542 543

The alliance remained pragmatic rather than trusting. Liu Yuanchen used the Witch Race's ancient hostility toward the Demon Race to pressure the Phoenix Race, while restricting their battlefield activity in the Yang Realm because their warfare could inflict excessive damage on heaven and earth. 547 550 551

In the Primordial World, Liu Yuanchen later strengthened ties with Houtu by returning the Immortal-Slaying Flying Saber rather than using a weapon refined from Great Witch essence. He also agreed to nourish the saber with Pangu power so the Great Witches whose true spirits remained within it could eventually be reborn. 644 645
