Background

Laiyun was originally Aoi Inuzuka’s ninja hound. After Aoi went missing, Laiyun was left severely injured in the veterinary infirmary. She escaped in the belief that she could still find her master, evading searchers through reconnaissance and counter-reconnaissance skills despite bleeding through her bandages and nearly collapsing. Ye Fan intercepted her, knocked her unconscious to stop her from throwing her life away, and secretly treated her injuries. 26

Aoi’s death left Laiyun unable to recover emotionally. She refused food, cried continuously, and declined until Hana Inuzuka feared she would follow Aoi in death. Ye Fan later offered her a new path: strength sufficient to avenge Aoi. After demonstrating acupoint sealing, overwhelming physical strength, and his ability to increase her chakra reserves, he made Laiyun his second contracted ninja hound. 29 31

Ye Fan sought formal custody to protect Laiyun from possible reassignment by the Inuzuka Clan. The Third Hokage approved the transfer, recognizing Laiyun as a Konoha ninja hound with service to the village rather than merely a clan asset. 33 34

Appearance

Laiyun is an enormous, snow-white ninja hound whose size and speed make her conspicuous even among trained ninja dogs. After her body tempering, her appearance gained distinctly demonic traits.

Personality

Laiyun is defined by fierce loyalty. Her first major action is an attempt to leave Konoha while critically injured rather than abandon Aoi, and Aoi’s death leaves her grief-stricken enough to stop eating and lose her will to live. 26 29

After contracting with Ye Fan, her loyalty transfers completely to him. She guards his breakthroughs without rest, refuses to let Kiba interrupt a dangerous cultivation session, and is willing to oppose even the Hokage if necessary to protect her master. 53 54

Her desire for strength is driven primarily by revenge for Aoi, which remains a dangerous emotional weakness. When Ye Fan invokes Aoi’s murder during training, Laiyun loses control of the Beast Marks and mistakes Ye Fan for her enemy. 100

Laiyun also develops a protective, senior-like attitude toward weaker companions. She shields Dark Shadow from the oppressive aura of Nine-Tailed Fox chakra and comforts the younger hound by placing a paw on his head. 110
