Background / History

Yu Xiaogang is Yu Yuanzhen’s son and was once connected to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect. Despite presenting himself as a martial soul theorist whose knowledge surpasses the continent, he failed to break through Rank 29 and was eventually expelled from the sect. 29 31 46

His history with Bibi Dong and Liu Erlong becomes a central subject of the Sky Screen broadcast. Pope Bibi Dong states that she and Xiaogang once fell in love before Qian Xunji separated them. When Saintess Bibi Dong sees the young Xiaogang’s conduct for herself, however, she cannot understand why her older self ever liked him. 46

The broadcast also reveals that Xiaogang could identify Liu Erlong’s Fire Dragon as a mutation of the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus, indicating that he knew she was his cousin. He nevertheless pursued her, then abandoned her to face the sect’s condemnation and public rumors alone. 36

Personality

Yu Xiaogang is intensely insecure about Lu Xuan’s power, appearance, and influence over Bibi Dong. Though he and Bibi Dong have long separated, he continues to regard her as his possession and reacts to her attachment to Lu Xuan with jealousy and rage. 8 16 21

He places extreme faith in his own martial soul theories. He dismisses Lu Xuan’s enhancement-focused soul-ring path, body-tempering methods, and Nine Swords of Dugu as misguided or impractical even after the Sky Screen demonstrates their results. 4 24 27 40

His confidence repeatedly collapses into cowardice when faced with real danger. While watching Lu Xuan’s battle with Qian Daoliu, Xiaogang condemns the Supreme Douluo’s five enhancement-type soul skills as a waste of talent. He argues that elemental and control-oriented skills would have been superior. 4

After Lu Xuan’s Autumn Water Mirror Illuminating the Spirit Platform exposes Qian Xunji’s desire for Bibi Dong, Xiaogang interprets the revelation as proof that Bibi Dong abandoned him for status and wealth. He swears revenge against Spirit Hall. 5

Pursuit of immortal herbs

Upon learning that immortal herbs can change one’s aptitude, Xiaogang decides to travel to Sunset Forest. He believes his knowledge will let him select a suitable herb, break through Rank 29, and improve his talent. 26

Sky Screen courtship of Saintess Bibi Dong

In the Sky Screen timeline, Xiaogang is chased by a 200-year-old mountain boar and saved by Bibi Dong. He mistakes her intervention for romantic interest. 29

He later professes love to Bibi Dong, calls her “Dong’er,” and promises to use his theories to make her a Soul Emperor. Bibi Dong repeatedly orders him to leave, then beats him when he refuses. 30

When threatened, Xiaogang kneels before Lu Xuan and invokes his father’s position as sect master. He then suggests that Bibi Dong can avoid offending the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect by marrying him. 30

Punishment by the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect

Lu Xuan brings Xiaogang to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect and recounts his behavior to Yu Yuanzhen. To protect the sect from Lu Xuan’s anger, Yu Yuanzhen beats Xiaogang, knocks out half his teeth, and orders him confined in the Disciplinary Hall. 33

Exposure of the Liu Erlong scandal

The Sky Screen shows Xiaogang recognizing Liu Erlong’s martial soul as a mutation of his own clan’s Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus. The audience concludes that he knowingly courted his cousin, allowed her to face public disgrace, and abandoned her to preserve himself. 36

As the scandal spreads, Yu Yuanzhen orders Xiaogang captured, Blue Tyrant Academy calls for justice, and Liu Erlong declares that she will capture him herself. 36

At Shrek Academy, Xiaogang denies the broadcast and asks Flender to hide him. Flender refuses, tells him to leave, and ends their brotherhood. 37
