Appearance

Gong Feiyu is a handsome young man with a pale face and a cold, noble bearing. His imposing presentation is accompanied by a faint killing intent 21.

  • Clothing: Crimson or blood-red brocade robes; wears a jade belt during his later visit to Shadow Tower 21 58.
  • Hair: Black, tied high at his first appearance 21.
  • Build: Tall and straight-backed 58.
  • After the duel: His skin is scorched black, his hair stands on end, and residual sparks course over his body 24.

Personality

Gong Feiyu is proud of his cultivation and position. At Wangjiang Terrace, he enjoys the attention of the assembled crowd and mocks the idea that a First-Stage Innate martial artist could challenge him. Despite his contemptuous words, he brings his sword intent to its peak rather than fighting carelessly 23.

He uses collective punishment to force cooperation, ordering the Xie Household sealed and threatening its destruction if Xie Jinghan loses. Although he publicly concedes defeat, the humiliation develops into a lasting vendetta: he later asks Shadow Tower to make Xie Jinghan suffer a fate worse than death 21 23 24 58.

Abilities & Skills

Bloodrain Sword Intent

  • Produces sinister, tyrannical sword intent imbued with slaughter and killing aura 23 25.
  • Transforms his sword attack into scarlet rain, covering half of Wangjiang Terrace opposite Xie Jinghan’s lightning 23.
  • Combines with his Fourth-Stage Innate cultivation and Divine Weapon to make him Xie Jinghan’s strongest opponent up to that point 25.

Blood-Rain Sword: Heavenfall

  • His strongest killing move during the duel, releasing blood-colored sword energy and countless scarlet sword shadows from above 24.
  • Fails to prevent defeat when Xie Jinghan’s Heart-Severing effect briefly traps his mind in a blinding white space, creating an opening for a lightning strike 24 25.

Blood Shadow Technique

  • An exclusive secret art of the Blood Slaughter Sect 23.
  • Carries him through the air as a swift streak of crimson light; he uses it to arrive at Wangjiang Terrace 23.

Clear Swordheart

  • Has attained Clear Swordheart before challenging Xie Jinghan 22.
  • This attainment does not make him immune to Xie Jinghan’s newly developed Heart-Severing technique 24 25.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Blood Rain Sword — A crimson Divine Weapon that flies from its sheath and hovers before him. Spectators identify it as the former killing blade of an ancient great general and recount legends of blood raining from the sky when it appeared 23.
  • Life-Creation Pill — A pill bestowed by His Majesty that saves him after his near-fatal defeat, according to Gong Peng 28.
  • Sword Challenge Letter — Delivered by Wei Dong to summon Xie Jinghan to the duel at Wangjiang Terrace 21 22.

Background / History

Retaliation against the Xie Household

Gong Feiyu is the grandson of Gong Peng, ruler of the Gong Clan. He also holds the fourth-ranked Holy Son position within the Blood Slaughter Sect 21 28.

Three months after Xie Jinghan defeats Chu Ning, Gong Feiyu’s investigators identify him as the swordsman who destroyed the sect’s Black Tiger Stronghold outpost and the Blood Baleful Intent within its Blood Pool. Gong acknowledges Xie’s unusual sword talent but criticizes his investigators for failing to determine the depth of his sword intent 21.

He orders the Blackfeather Guard to seal the Xie Household, forbidding anyone from leaving and authorizing the killing of resisters. Wei Dong delivers a challenge for a duel three days later: victory will spare the household, while defeat will mean its extermination 21 22.

Defeat at Wangjiang Terrace

The duel draws sect representatives, aristocratic families, and thousands of spectators. Gong Feiyu announces that a victory for Xie Jinghan will erase their grievances and end the Blood Slaughter Sect’s interference with the Xie Household. He then reveals his Fourth-Stage Innate cultivation and the Blood Rain Sword 23.

His Blood-Rain Sword: Heavenfall clashes with Xie Jinghan’s Sword-Drawing Technique: One Hundred Thousand Volts. Heart-Severing momentarily disrupts his mind, allowing the lightning attack to strike him before Wei Dong can intervene 24 25.

Severely burned and suffering from electricity raging inside his body, Gong Feiyu receives healing pills and true-qi treatment from Wei Dong. He admits defeat and orders their departure. The Blackfeather Guard subsequently withdraws from the Xie Residence 24 25.

Covert Revenge

Gong Peng arranges an assassination through Shadow Tower rather than forcing his grandson to openly break his promise. The organization demands one hundred thousand taels of silver for the contract 28.

Wei Dong later pursues Xie Jinghan, claiming to act as Gong Feiyu’s servant rather than on behalf of the Blood Slaughter Sect. Xie Jinghan kills him, while Shadow Tower assassin A Qing escapes 35 38.

As the contract’s six-month deadline approaches, Gong Feiyu visits Shadow Tower to demand results. After learning that Wei Dong is dead and A Qing is missing, he asks for a fate worse than death for Xie Jinghan. Li Niang declares the original mission a failure and assigns the tower’s third-ranked Earth Rank assassin, a specialist in tormenting victims 58.

Relationships

  • Gong Peng — Grandfather and Gong Clan patriarch; secures covert retaliation after Gong Feiyu’s near-fatal injury 28.
  • Wei Dong — Loyal servant and protector, addressed as “Uncle Dong.” Delivers the challenge, rescues him after defeat, and later dies attempting to avenge him 21 24 35 38.
  • Xie Jinghan — Enemy who defeats him at Wangjiang Terrace and becomes the target of his continuing revenge 23 24 58.
  • Li Niang — Shadow Tower steward who handles the Gong Clan’s assassination contract and accommodates his request for a more cruel outcome 28 58.
