Background / History

Kirigakure is a major shinobi village situated in a broad valley surrounded by mountains, forests, and rivers. Its concealed location comes at the cost of persistent mist and dark clouds that limit sunlight throughout the village. 772

During the Third Great Ninja War, Kirigakure fought Konoha across the southeastern coastal regions of the Land of Fire and at sea. Its forces used warships, coastal patrols, infiltration squads, and repeated offensives against Konoha's eastern defenses and Black Stone Outpost. 272 359 407 550

Konoha eventually breached Kirigakure's defensive lines and entered Aburatsu Port, including the Mist Village Command Headquarters. Following these losses, Kirigakure withdrew surviving forces by warship rather than continue the campaign. 504 629

Several years later, the Third Mizukage abdicated and Karatachi Yagura became the Fourth Mizukage. Suspected coup attempts prompted martial law across the Land of Water, while Kirigakure's internal situation became increasingly tense. 773
