Background

Qing Lin was born with mixed human and snakefolk blood. Rejected by both groups because of the pale green scales on her wrist, she survived by wandering among villages, merchant caravans, and the outskirts of Stone Desert City. She performed odd jobs for food but was routinely beaten whenever others noticed her scales. By the time Han Feng found her, she was malnourished, frightened, and accustomed to begging not to be harmed. 11

Han Feng brought Qing Lin and Yaoxin to Sacred City, where he arranged food, clean clothing, medicinal baths, and attendants for them. Qing Lin’s health and physical foundation steadily improved after a month of care; she grew taller, her skin became fairer, and her disposition became more spirited. 12

After Yao Chen recognized Qing Lin’s Three-Flower Jade Serpent Eyes, he began teaching her snake-clan knowledge, methods of communicating with snake-type magical beasts, and a soul-tempering secret art to strengthen her eyes. He warned that, without proper guidance, her inability to control the eye technique could cause her to be devoured by the very serpents she commanded. 19

Han Feng later escorted her to the Heavenly Serpent Palace, whose inheritance was uniquely suited to her bloodline. In exchange for the complete inheritance and Qing Lin’s position as Saintess, the Heavenly Serpent Palace became an affiliated force of Falling Star Pavilion while Qing Lin remained under Han Feng’s protection in Sacred City. 30 31

Within the Serpent-Calming Pool, Qing Lin completed the first stage of the inheritance under Bai Su’s guidance. She received the Jade-Eyed Serpent-Commanding Heart Scripture, awakened and stabilized her eye power, and rapidly grew into a capable serpent-beast commander. 32 33

Appearance

Qing Lin was initially a thin, dirty, frightened child with a pointed face and visible pale-green snake scales on her wrist. After receiving care in Sacred City, she became healthier and taller, with fairer skin, delicate features, and brighter emerald-green eyes. 11 12

Qing Lin was initially extremely timid and wary of others, instinctively shrinking away from Han Feng and Yaoxin because she expected mistreatment. Her fear stemmed from years of rejection and violence by both humans and snakefolk. 11

Life in Sacred City gradually made her more open, grateful, and diligent. She trained harder because she understood that her safety, home, and opportunity to cultivate had not come easily. She became deeply attached to Han Feng, Yaoxin, and Bai Su, regarding their care as warmth she had never known before. 29 33

As her confidence grew, Qing Lin became more cheerful and proactive. After returning from the Heavenly Serpent Palace, she eagerly showed its Grand Elder around Sacred City and reunited enthusiastically with Xiao Yan, Yaoxin, and Xun’er. 34

Qing Lin possesses the Three-Flower Jade Serpent Eyes, an extraordinarily rare bloodline phenomenon that can occur only in mixed descendants of humans and the snakefolk. The eyes are connected to the bloodline of the Ancient Heavenly Serpent and grant authority over serpent-type magical beasts. 31
