Hermione's Invitation

Spells were not something whose greatest power could be unleashed simply by learning them.

Take an ordinary Fire Spell. When Jerry cast it now, he could only use it to light a cigarette, whereas Dumbledore could use it to burn thousands upon thousands of Inferi to death.

On one hand, Dumbledore possessed far more magical power than Jerry. More importantly, though, Dumbledore's understanding of the Fire Spell was beyond anything an ordinary Wizard could compare to.

Throughout the entire Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Quirrell did not ask any questions besides teaching, so Jerry naturally had no chance to earn points.

But he was not in any hurry. Learning magic and increasing his strength were the ultimate goals. Earning points to raise his reputation could be done slowly; there would be plenty of opportunities.

Over the next few days, Jerry also attended Herbology, Astronomy, Charms, and Transfiguration.

Since he spent long periods every night using the "Refreshing Mind" function to rapidly memorize and study magic books, and also activated "Refreshing Mind" periodically during lessons,

in Herbology, he could always immediately and accurately name every herb Professor Sprout asked about, along with all its various properties.

In Astronomy, he could also easily identify any star or constellation.

In Charms, while the other Little Wizards were still studying spell theory, he could already successfully cast the corresponding magic from the textbook. Although the effects were not especially powerful, he was highly proficient in using them.

As for Transfiguration, after McGonagall finished her lecture and had everyone practice turning a matchstick into a needle,

Jerry completed the exercise in under ten seconds amid McGonagall's cry of surprise, becoming the first Little Wizard to successfully turn a matchstick into a silver needle.

Because of this, in just four days, Jerry had earned over twenty points for Slytherin, leaving a very favorable initial impression on all the teachers.

He had also gained a little fame among the various Houses.

Especially since Jerry was unlike Hermione. With the soul of an adult, he made every Little Wizard who took the initiative to approach him feel that although he was exceptionally outstanding, he was not as arrogant and difficult to get along with as ordinary Slytherins.

Instead, he was very modest and easygoing, and sometimes even cracked a joke or two.

Thus, although he had earned over twenty points for Slytherin, the Little Wizards from the other three Houses who had interacted with him did not feel much jealousy toward him. Instead, they all felt a certain degree of admiration.

Because, aside from a Gryffindor Little Wizard named Hermione, no one had earned points comparable to Jerry's.

Just like that, Friday arrived.

There were only morning classes on Friday: Potions Class taught by Head of Slytherin Professor Snape. It was also the first class Slytherin and Gryffindor had attended together so far.

The previous classes had been shared either with Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff; not a single one had been with Gryffindor.

The Potions Class classroom was in the dungeon, very close to the common room where Jerry's Slytherin House was located.

Since it never saw sunlight, the classroom felt somewhat gloomy, especially with the glass jars lined along the walls, each containing preserved specimens of various animals.

"Hi, Jerry, you came so early!"

"Hermione, you're here early too!"

Jerry had a habit of getting up early, so he finished breakfast very early and arrived at the Potions Class classroom. He was the first Little Wizard to enter.

Hermione was usually the first to enter every classroom as well, so the two happened to run into each other.

Since no one else had arrived yet, they naturally sat together and began chatting.

Because they had been assigned to different Houses and did not attend the same classes, aside from exchanging a few words when they ran into each other at meals, they truly had little time to chat.

More importantly, Hermione was a top student. Whenever she had free time, she studied.

And Jerry, in order to increase his strength, was likewise tirelessly absorbing all kinds of magical knowledge.

"Jerry, are you free this weekend? How about we go to the library together?"

Hermione looked at Jerry expectantly.

She had already memorized the first-year textbooks during the summer holiday. After asking Percy, a prefect, Hermione learned that Hogwarts had a library with many magic books available to read.

So she wanted to take advantage of Friday's free time to go take a look.

Now that she had run into Jerry, who liked reading just as much as she did, she invited him to the library.

When Jerry heard the word library, his eyes lit up as well.

Over the past two days, he had been busy memorizing A History of Magic, One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, and Magical Drafts and Potions, so he truly had not had time to consider visiting Hogwarts Library.

"Do you know where the library is?"

"I asked around beforehand. It's on the second floor of the castle, in the corridor all the way to the right!"

Hermione replied immediately.

"Alright, then we'll go first thing Saturday morning!"

Jerry nodded and accepted Hermione's invitation.

While Jerry and Hermione were chatting, the Little Wizards from Slytherin and Gryffindor gradually entered the Potions Class classroom as well.

Among them, Harry and Ron sat on Hermione's other side and joined the conversation.

At this point, the topic shifted from magical knowledge to the remarkable things they had each seen at Hogwarts over the past few days.

However, the two boys were clearly somewhat annoyed by Hermione's occasional "showing off" and lecturing, especially when Hermione brought up the embarrassing incident of them being late to Transfiguration and getting scolded by McGonagall.

What interested them more was Jerry's mention of the large windows in the Slytherin Common Room, through which one could see the scenery at the bottom of the lake.

"Jerry, as a Slytherin, I must remind you that associating with people of impure blood and traitors is not a good thing. You'll be influenced by them!"

At that moment, an arrogant voice with a faintly sour edge suddenly sounded beside Jerry's ear.

Jerry turned to look.

It was Daphne, the blonde young witch from Slytherin, who had sat down beside him with her close friend Millicent.

At the start-of-term feast, Daphne had been attracted to the handsome Jerry, who had not even changed expression when facing the Bloody Baron. Later, Jerry's excellent performance in every subject

had further fulfilled every fantasy she had of what a true Slytherin ought to be.

Unfortunately, Jerry seemed to particularly enjoy being alone. Whenever she occasionally approached him to strike up a conversation, he would give her a charming smile and chat briefly before ending the conversation because he needed to read.

Though Jerry's quiet appearance as he read in the common room seemed rather nice to her as well.

But when she entered the classroom just now and saw Jerry chatting so happily with several Gryffindor Little Wizards, she immediately felt unhappy.

Of the three Gryffindors, one was a lowly Mudblood, one was a Weasley who had betrayed his bloodline to join Gryffindor, and the other was the famous Harry Potter, who should have entered Slytherin but had gone to Gryffindor instead.
