"Boom, boom, boom!"
The sun climbed higher, shining over the blood-colored stone city. After many years, low war drums once more thundered through Kuramo City. Beneath the pyramid, the Bronze Armor chieftain beat the drum himself, and great ranks of rebels shouted the slogan of the Three Gods as they charged up the pyramid in waves!
"Whoosh, whoosh!"
The first two hundred-odd rebel archers advanced in a loose formation, raising hunting bows, reed arrows at their backs, and climbed onto the base of the pyramid. They stopped and steadied themselves, shooting upward at the Mexica Warriors above. Though the rebels' hunting bows were weak and soft, at such close range, they still wounded several warriors.
The old general Etalic raised his brows. He waved the signal flag, and the Mexica Warriors contracted several meters upward, occupying the upper section of the pyramid and forming an even tighter battle line. As long as they held this final wave of assault, the rebels would have no strength left to launch another storm attack. When that time came, it would be his chance to counterattack.
"Boom, boom, boom!"
After the rebel archers fired three volleys, they paused for a brief rest. Then the drums grew more urgent, and the shouting grew louder. Two hundred-odd rebel javelin men, carrying throwing spears on their backs, passed the archers at the bottom and continued climbing toward the middle of the pyramid. Soon, the fastest javelin men had reached the middle section. They raised their wooden-and-stone javelins, preparing to throw upward.
Etalic immediately blew the war whistle and waved the red flag. The Mexica Warriors lowered their shields to cover their lower bodies. Then the Royal Archers stopped conserving arrows and rapidly shot at the climbing javelin men.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"
