Reliefs of skulls were carved throughout the ancient hall, while murals of death encircled the two people in the corner.
The warrior lady had collapsed to the ground, bleeding as she laughed hoarsely and madly. The boy huddled tight in her arms, staring ahead in terror. The Captain of Warriors strode forward at a run, his sharp Bronze Sword raised at an angle. The many large shield warriors opened a path, then followed close behind.
"Bertad, leave them alive!"
The king shouted, and the Captain of Warriors slowed his steps, turning the edge of his Bronze Sword aside and switching to its heavy flat.
"Haaha! Mexica People, keep your eternal doubts!"
The warrior lady laughed in frenzy. With her intact right hand, she drew the long dagger at her waist. Then she lowered her head and gently kissed the boy's forehead.
The boy tilted his head up. In this temple filled with death, he stared blankly at the person he trusted most in his life. He saw the tears in the warrior lady's eyes, and felt the soft kiss on his forehead.
"White Snake... Sister?"
At the boy's address, a smile unlike any she had ever shown appeared on the warrior lady's face. She held the boy tenderly, and gently placed the long dagger in her hand against his neck.
"Little water snake, go in peace, carrying the Water Snake Family's glory, carrying hatred never to be forgotten for all eternity! And your warrior lady will go with you, too~"
With that, she gritted her teeth, tightened her grip on the long dagger, and slashed downward.
"Ah!... Ugh..."
In that instant, the boy's eyes went wide, and he convulsed in agony. He felt warmth and life leaving him, and begged out his final whisper.
