He had let him escape. This was the worst possible outcome. A wounded beast was far more dangerous than usual, especially one that possessed secrets and power capable of destroying the world.
But it did not matter. His senses clearly told him where Rau Le Creuset was—at least, as long as that man was still inside this facility, he would not lose him. That strange intuition, neither radar scanning nor something caught by the five senses, traced Rau Le Creuset's path through his mind. It was the perception unique to Newtypes, or those with exceptional spatial awareness. Within this space filled with malice, Rau Le Creuset's twisted and powerful mental fluctuations stood out like a beacon in the night. If he gave chase, he still had a chance.
Just as Xia Ya was about to set off after him, that voice full of venom echoed down the corridor.
"What can the likes of you do...?!"
Rau Le Creuset's hateful voice came from beyond the door. Distorted by distance and echo, it sounded like a curse from the deepest pit of hell. Even as he fled, he still used words as weapons to wound everyone present.
"No one can stop me anymore! If you can, then come and stop me—stop this vortex of hatred that will engulf the entire universe!"
Every word was like a venom-coated arrow. His arrogance, his despair, his madness to drag the entire world down into hell with him—everything was laid bare in that sentence. He was not bluffing. He truly believed humanity was beyond redemption, truly believed destruction was the only salvation. That pure malice made the air thick and suffocating.
Then, the footsteps gradually faded. Those heavy, hurried footsteps eventually vanished deep within the maze-like abandoned facility.
He could not let him leave like this!
