I Want Power

Countless strands of spider silk instantly wound around Huo An, wrapping him layer upon layer. The glow on the Flame Blade rapidly dimmed.

He struggled desperately, his Soul Power erupting as he shattered layer after layer of silk. But even more silk kept winding around him in an endless stream, like white waves threatening to drown him completely.

Poison seeped through his skin, and Huo An's strength rapidly ebbed away.

"Your Highness, run!" Huo An let out a despairing roar, on the verge of being completely swallowed.

But icy spider silk instantly wound around Dai Mubai's hands and feet. Poison invaded his body, and he felt his limbs beginning to go numb.

Just as Dai Mubai's consciousness was about to fade and Huo An was about to be wrapped into a cocoon—

"Tsk. What a noisy night."

A languid female voice with an oddly magnetic quality seemed to sound right beside their ears, yet also seemed to come from every corner of the forest.

Time seemed to freeze at that instant.

The surging spider silk, the frenzied Man Faced Demon Spiders, even the howling wind—all of it froze in place.

Then, an indescribably deep and murky pressure washed across the forest clearing like a tide.

The savage, violent Man Faced Demon Spiders seemed to have encountered their natural predator. They let out shrill cries of terror and retreated like a receding tide, burrowing into caves and gaps between trees before vanishing without a trace. Only tangled silk and signs of battle remained scattered across the ground.

The spider silk wrapped around Dai Mubai and Huo An was severed as if by an invisible blade, falling away in pieces.
