Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.
It was not a long time, but for a newly inaugurated base, it was enough to give some flesh and blood to an empty shell.
Over those two weeks, eight thousand recruits had been enlisted in succession and placed in the New Recruit Training Camp. Training had already begun, and slogans rang through the base every day.
In the largest area north of the camp, more than a dozen companies were conducting physical training at once. Mud pits had been dug into the gray-white training grounds, while high walls, barbed wire, and balance logs had been set up.
The recruits carried heavy sandbags as they repeatedly sprinted down the track. Some fell into the mud pits, splashing up murky water. When they crawled out, covered head to toe in mud, they did not even stop to wipe themselves off before charging toward the next obstacle.
The training teams formed by Qi Refinement Practitioners stood at the edge of the obstacle course, their eyes fixed on everyone passing through. Whenever someone's movements became sloppy, they would shout, "Again!" If someone was clearly falling behind, they would stride over and run alongside them for a stretch.
In the open ground near the Warehouse District to the east, another dozen or so companies were familiarizing themselves with weapons. Disassembling and assembling Runic Rifles was a required course. Qi Refinement Practitioners crouched nearby to watch, occasionally reaching out to correct a recruit's shooting posture or picking up a half-finished rifle to demonstrate the assembly process on the spot.
Farther away, near the simulated training grounds in the southwest, several recruit companies that had already completed the physical training and weapons familiarization stages were conducting tactical drills under the guidance of Qi Refinement Practitioners.
