The vast sea region tens of thousands of kilometers beyond the extreme north was a place forgotten by heaven and earth.

Most of the time, these waters fell within the sphere of influence of the Northern Plains people. Yet the Northern Plains people had no unified government; they were a collective term for thousands of forces large and small. Thus, this region existed amid both chaos and order, making it a paradise for Rogue Cultivators.

Other forces had little interest in this place as well. The main reason was that the cost of operating here was simply too high; direct trade was far more convenient.

Countless chunks of broken ice floated upon the sea year-round, while icy fog never ceased. In the northwestern waters, the sea was a deep black, a color cast upward from the seabed, proving that beneath this region lay nothing but darkness.

There were many reefs and small islands here, most of them created out of thin air by cultivators themselves. Even the closest of them were separated by dozens of kilometers.

There were no fixed sea routes or coordinates here. Cultivators traveled through the icy fog by relying on Divine Sense or memories accumulated over the years. Most cultivators here had grown weary of worldly strife and came to hide from the world. Many members of the Demon Race cultivated here as well. Everyone got along reasonably well, though conflicts still broke out often.

They built all manner of cave dwellings here. Some excavated rock layers in the deep sea and used spells to ward off ice and currents; the simpler ones condensed ice huts atop the frozen surface; others built houses upon reefs.

At the southern edge of these waters lay a cluster of islands whose names could not even be found on maps.
