The light faded from Strange's eyes like dying embers. But just a second later, those embers flared back to life, startlingly bright.

"The Ancient One passed her title and the Eye of Agamotto to me." His voice was hoarse, as though scraped with sandpaper. "But she also left a mess behind. Her disciple Kaecilius brought the power of the Dark Dimension to Earth in pursuit of so-called immortality."

He paused, seemingly gathering his words, or perhaps recalling the battle that had exhausted him in body and mind.

"Mordo." Strange's voice grew heavy as he spoke the name. "Mordo couldn't accept that the Ancient One borrowed dark power to sustain her life. He believes magic itself is a violation of nature's laws, a sin. Now he's hunting sorcerers and stealing their powers. His next target is the New York Sanctum."

"So you want me to clean house for you?" A faint smile tugged at Chu Hang's lips.

"No." Strange shook his head and looked straight into Chu Hang's eyes. There was no fear in his gaze, only a surgeon's calm resolve. "The Ancient One said Mordo was my test, and I had to deal with him myself. But she also said that if Dormammu broke his oath and sent a clone here, that would be beyond me. She told me to find you."

"I owe her a favor," Chu Hang answered without hesitation. "Mordo is yours. Dormammu is mine."

Strange's tense shoulders finally relaxed, and he let out a long breath of relief.

"Deal."

There was no more wasting words. Strange raised both hands, tracing a ring of orange-red fire with his fingertips. The portal rapidly expanded, revealing the New York Sanctum's iconic circular window on the other side.

The two stepped through, one after the other.
