The Price of Ability Amplification

Chu Hang returned to his room and locked the door behind him.

The setting sun shone through the blinds, casting neat patterns of light and shadow across the floor. He walked to the bed, sat down, closed his eyes, and let his consciousness sink into his body.

The power copied from Apocalypse lay coiled deep within his genes. Like a hibernating python, it waited silently to be awakened.

Chu Hang could sense its nature—overbearing, dangerous, and intensely aggressive. Apocalypse had spent thousands of years perfecting this ability, turning it into the ultimate means of controlling others.

But Chu Hang had no need to control anyone. What he wanted was guidance.

He drew upon the Mental Law and carefully probed the core of that power. Countless fragments of information flashed through his mind: genetic sequence restructuring, forced X-Gene activation, violent potential release. Every step was crude yet efficient, but riddled with fatal flaws.

The greatest problem was the Psychic Imprint. Whenever Apocalypse amplified someone else's abilities, he planted a seed deep within their Soul Law.

The seed would take root and sprout, eventually unleashing the Devouring Law, which devoured the target's self-awareness and turned them into a puppet.

Chu Hang opened his eyes and raised his right hand. A pale golden glow emerged from his palm.

That was the power of the Life Law—gentle, inclusive, and brimming with vitality. He injected it into his body and began stripping away the part of Ability Amplification that belonged to mental control.

It was more difficult than he had expected. The Psychic Imprint was deeply fused with the core mechanism of Ability Amplification, and forcibly removing it might cause the entire ability system to collapse.

He needed more precise control. He needed time.
