Fury was the first to move.
Without looking at anyone, he walked to the corner and pulled out a satellite phone that looked like a black brick. His back was ramrod straight, like a taut steel bar.
"It's me." His voice was low, but the command in it cut through clearly. "Activate the beacon protocol. Top priority. Clear Route B-7, impose airspace control across the board. Yes, all of it."
He did not say why, nor did he need to explain. The person on the other end was only responsible for carrying out orders.
Chu Hang ignored him and walked over to Maria and Monica, crouching down in front of them. He looked into the little girl's eyes, his voice gentle. "Monica, are you sure you saw that office among the stars on a computer?"
Monica nodded hard. There was not a trace of fear in her big eyes, only earnestness. "Yeah! On the biggest computer in Aunt Lawson's office! She even let me play Minesweeper on it."
"Good." Chu Hang smiled and ruffled her hair. "You've been a huge help."
Carol leaned against the wall, her face still pale. She looked at the one-eyed man barking orders, then at the exhausted Skrull general on the sofa. Finally, her gaze settled on Chu Hang.
Everything had turned into a mess. She had been a fool who had been played for six years.
"I..." She wanted to say something, but her throat felt clogged with sand.
"Whatever you want to say can wait until we get what we came for." Chu Hang stood up and did not let her continue. "It's time to go. Mr. Fury has already called for transportation."
