There were also some Soul Power fluctuations in this wind. It seemed this was not a natural disaster, but possibly a man-made one.
Why had the wind stopped?
An Chen poked his head out from the dirt pit where he had been hiding.
He discovered that the storm that had just formed over the sea had suddenly become motionless, as though someone had grabbed it by the throat.
Before long, it began to dissipate.
Then he noticed several streams of multicolored light flying past in the distance.
Those should be people from Spirit Hall, right? Did something happen over there? Could it be that Evil Soul Master?
An Chen was pondering this when several of the streams of light flying behind the others headed toward him.
Seeing this, An Chen raised a leg to run, but then reconsidered. Would running now make him stand out too much?
He had only burned down an Evil God Believer's residence. They had no evidence to arrest him.
With that in mind, An Chen stopped again and waited for the streams of light to descend.
A moment later.
"Young brother, what are you doing here? Are you all right? This area is too dangerous. Leave quickly."
A voice rang out. An Chen looked over and saw that the newcomer wore Spirit Hall attire, with a badge pinned to his chest. He appeared to be an important figure.
An Chen was just about to answer.
"Why waste words with him? He must be an Evil Soul Master's accomplice. Arrest him!"
Another voice suddenly rang out.
An Chen looked at the newcomer, his brows furrowing slightly.
This man's clothing was a little more extravagant than the first man's, and two servant-like attendants followed behind him.
"Fu Lei, he looks barely more than ten years old. How could he possibly be an Evil Soul Master's accomplice?" the first man said with a frown.
"Wang Hao, whether someone is an Evil Soul Master's accomplice has nothing to do with age," Fu Lei said with a cold snort.
He then looked at An Chen and continued, "Kid, you had better honestly explain why you are here."
Spirit Hall...
An Chen was extremely frightened, his voice trembling. "I-I'm not... I'm just a passing mercenary..."
"Mercenary or not, take him back for interrogation," Fu Lei snorted, waving to the two men behind him.
Wang Hao tilted his head slightly.
His colleague Fu Lei was a disciple of an aristocratic family. He used to have a good temper, but ever since people from another family had given him a jar of Whale Glue, he had become irritable.
Wang Hao shook his head helplessly. He could not control Fu Lei, so he could only find a way to let the boy go after they returned to Spirit Hall.
As though he had thought of something, Fu Lei stopped the two attendants from stepping forward and said to An Chen, "You said you are a mercenary? How am I supposed to determine whether you really are one? Unless... you open your Storage Soul Tool and let me see whether there is anything shameful inside."
Fu Lei curled his lips upward and made a coin-weighing gesture with his palm as he looked at An Chen.
As though he had suddenly understood, An Chen seized his last straw.
He hurriedly took out several Gold Soul Coins from his Ring, but he took out too many, causing a pitch-black card to fall out.
The card flashed on the ground, revealing the words written on it:
Spirit Hall Elder Exclusive Black Card (Supplementary Card)
Fu Lei motioned for the two men behind him to bring it over for inspection.
One of them picked up the card and handed it to him.
Fu Lei took one look, and his pupils contracted. His face turned pale, and even his legs went weak.
"Th-this..."
He immediately walked up to An Chen in person, returned it with both hands, and bowed his head with utmost respect. "My lord, this lowly one failed to recognize greatness..."
Wang Hao and the other two stared in stunned disbelief. They could not believe their eyes. The eldest legitimate son of a noble family was actually apologizing so humbly?
An Chen accepted the Black Card with one hand. The frightened expression on his face vanished completely as he gave Fu Lei an indifferent glance. "May I leave now?"
"Yes, yes! Please do as you wish, my lord!" Fu Lei nodded like a pecking chick, then remembered something. "How about we escort you? It isn't safe outside."
An Chen waved his hand and walked straight in the direction opposite Sanchao Post, leaving the group with only his back.
Fu Lei breathed a sigh of relief.
"Fu Lei, just now, that was..."
"Ah, don't mention it. That card is a family card for a Spirit Hall elder," Fu Lei explained with a sigh. "He might be a disciple of some elder who came out to gain experience."
At last, someone could put this young master in his place.
Wang Hao curled his lips, nodded, and said nothing more.
The group then continued on their journey.
Meanwhile, An Chen entered the forest and casually put the Black Card back into his Ring.
His expression was somewhat amused. Was that the Crooked-Mouthed Dragon King? Pretty interesting.
An Chen knocked his own head with his hand again. The smile faded from his face, and his gaze turned somewhat cold.
No. It would have been better to kill them all. That way, there would be no future trouble.
An Chen shook his head, then took a deep breath.
No, I'm not that kind of person! The urgent matter was still obtaining my Third Soul Ring.
An Chen sighed. His mental disorder was getting more serious as the Babble worsened.
With that in mind, he accelerated toward the inland.
Within a dense forest.
At the edge of a dark swamp where sunlight could not reach, An Chen sat cross-legged beside the corpse of a massive Soul Beast.
The Soul Beast was a Shadow Two-Headed Wolf with a body comparable to a small mountain. It had been dead for quite some time.
Its two enormous wolf heads hung limply to either side. One skull seemed to have exploded, with brain matter and black blood mixed together and spilled everywhere.
The scales covering its body still twitched faintly after death, while a nauseating stench of rot filled the air.
An Chen sat cross-legged nearby, holding a Big Iron Pot. A thin layer of gray mist covered its surface, so faint that it could easily be mistaken for dust.
Only upon closely examining the gray mist could one see a purplish-red crack on the Iron Pot.
A purple Soul Ring hovered silently above his head.
An Chen's eyes were tightly shut, and veins bulged on his forehead.
After fleeing the seaside, he had found a city and prayed to the great existence, The Fool. Using the Purification Ritual, he purified the contaminated Whale Glue.
He then spent a day absorbing it. As the original work had said, the Whale Glue was indeed an item of utmost hardness and strength. Although he had soaked in a bathtub filled with ice before absorbing it, he still woke drenched in sweat, burning with unbearable heat.
Fortunately, it was not as severe as the Babble in An Chen's ears. He only needed to endure it, and it passed.
Three days later, he found a Soul Hunting Forest and personally hunted a Double-Headed Wolf with five thousand years of cultivation.
In theory, a Soul Master's Third Soul Ring should be limited to one thousand seven hundred and sixty years. However, An Chen had absorbed Whale Glue and strengthened his physique, so he dared to absorb this five-thousand-year Soul Ring.
"Urgh...!"
As the Soul Ring fused into his body, it was like a violent beast, frantically tearing at his soul.
An Chen gritted his teeth fiercely, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth. He seemed to hear the Double-Headed Wolf's lingering soul roaring furiously within his mind.
But after being tempered by the Babble these past few days, his will had grown much firmer, and he was able to withstand this pain.
The pain came quickly and left quickly. Before long, the Double-Headed Wolf's lingering spiritual remnant completely collapsed.
The Soul Ring transformed into a surging current of energy that flowed into his body and the Iron Pot.
An Chen let out a long breath and slowly opened his eyes.
He summoned the Iron Pot, and three Soul Rings appeared around him in sequence: yellow, yellow, purple.
"This Soul Skill... is rather interesting."
