Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was jointly sealed on the moon by her two sons, while her younger son, Hamura Ōtsutsuki, lived on the moon to guard her.

The Divine Tree was left on the ground and entrusted to her elder son, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, who sealed it within his own body.

Hagoromo wandered the earth with the Divine Tree for a long time, during which he had two sons: Ashura and Indra.

He also gathered the humans who had previously obtained Chakra, founded the Ninja Sect, and was later revered as the Sage of Six Paths.

Near death, Hagoromo could no longer seal the Divine Tree, so he divided its Chakra into nine parts, turning them into nine powerful aggregates of Chakra known as the Tailed Beasts.

Having done this, Hagoromo was utterly exhausted and on the verge of death.

Yet he knew full well of the Ōtsutsuki Clan's ambitions and understood that they would one day return.

But after wandering among humans for many years, Hagoromo had also come to understand human nature.

Before his death, he could not stop worrying about his two sons. He taught them that they must work together in earnest, forge good ties far and wide, cultivate even greater strength, and fight against the evil Ōtsutsuki Clan.

Ashura and Indra understood their father's painstaking intentions before his death, but their ideals were completely opposed.

Indra focused on strengthening individual power, while Ashura valued the strength of united companions.

Neither could convince the other, so they led their respective descendants and Ninja followers into war.

The sporadic conflicts continued for a thousand years, until sixty-three years ago, when a Ninja who rose out of nowhere ended the millennium of chaos. From then on, the Shinobi World entered the era of the Five Great Nations.

At the end of the story, Menma concluded, "That was the general history. So now that you have heard all this, you may begin considering the following questions.

"First, if the enemy from a thousand years ago returns, would you still be willing to fight?

"Second, if you decide to fight, would you be willing to join forces with the Ninjas descended from your enemies and face the enemy together?"

Upon hearing this, the demons began a heated argument, each talking over the others:

"I say we should just watch those bastards suck the remaining half of the planet dry. It is not our home anyway, and the ones dying will all be descendants of those bastards!"

"Idiot. Without the pull of that half of the planet, our High Plain of Heaven would have drifted off into some unknown corner of the universe long ago."

"Then what do you suggest? Are we supposed to risk our lives for our enemies' descendants? Unlike them, we have no homeland to protect. We have no reason to fight!"

"Bastard! Of course we have a reason to fight! Have you forgotten how our kin died?

"Have you forgotten how Tamamo-no-Mae exhausted all her strength to gather the High Plain of Heaven and set up the barrier?

"Have you forgotten how Ox Demon dragged his heavily wounded body to send the High Plain of Heaven into the sky?

"Have you forgotten how Matatabi risked her life to intercept the enemy?"

"Of course I have not forgotten! But so what? Which of the demons left among us does not have one foot in the grave? I want to fight too, but how are we supposed to fight? Who will fight? Can we even win?"

"If we cannot win, does that mean we should not fight?

"If we cannot win, does that mean we should not seek revenge??

"If we cannot win, does that mean we should kneel before the enemy and wag our tails for mercy???"

"Alright, alright, stop arguing. Do we not have natural allies? If the enemy intends to destroy the remaining half of the planet, should not the humans on the other side be the ones most worried?"

"Hmph! Even if we fight, this old man will never join hands with the descendants of our enemies. Not killing him here already shows the limits of this old man's restraint!"

"Exactly. Even demons as powerful as us were defeated. What could mere humans possibly do?"

The argument continued, while Menma sat there calmly, as though everything happening around him had nothing to do with him.

At this point, the Great Tengu could no longer hold back. He coughed twice and said, "Enough. Stop. I have something to say!"

Only then did the demons gradually quiet down.

The Great Tengu swept his gaze across the demons before finally fixing it on Menma. "May I ask, what will happen if we do not participate in the war? And what will happen if we choose to fight?"

Menma let out a soft sigh. "If you do not participate in the war, then your fates will be entirely in our hands!

"If we win, you can still cling to life here;

"But if we lose, you will go to the underworld with us!"

"What? What the hell are you talking about, brat?!" Before the Tengu could speak, the bald old man behind him flew into a rage. "Are you threatening us?"

Menma replied unhurriedly, "I would not dare. I am merely stating the facts."

The bald old man still wanted to argue, but the Tengu stopped him, and he sat back down resentfully.

The Tengu asked, "That alone is not enough to persuade us to fight. Please give us a more convincing reason!"

Menma thought for a moment before saying, "What about helping you rebuild your homeland?"

The Tengu's expression turned grave. "What do you mean by rebuilding our homeland? Carving out a territory in your country for us to live in?

"Forgive my bluntness, but that seems to hold little meaning. The High Plain of Heaven is already enough for us to live in."

Menma shook his head and explained, "I do not have the authority to carve out land from my country for you.

"I mean exactly what I said: gathering the shattered half of the planet back together and allowing you to return to your homeland!"

"Stop boasting, brat! Even our Amaterasu could not accomplish such a thing. How could a mere human brat like you do it?" the bald old man mocked from behind the Tengu.

"That is why your Amaterasu is dead, while I am still alive!" Menma had grown tired of the bald old man constantly interrupting him, so he snapped back.

"What? Damn it, you bastard..." The bald old man leaped to his feet, ready to teach Menma a lesson, but the demon beside him grabbed him tightly.

"Damn it, let me go! I am going to kill him!"

The Tengu was somewhat angered as well. With a casual wave of his hand, the bald old man seemed to have a mountain pressed onto him from thin air, forcing him flat against the ground.

Then the Tengu said coldly to Menma, "If you do not explain yourself clearly, I cannot pretend I did not hear your earlier insult toward our Amaterasu."

Menma nodded, then stood up and walked outside, signaling for the demons to come out as well.

Aside from the bald old man pinned to the floor, the remaining demons filed out of the house one after another.

Menma pointed at the moon in the sky and asked, "Do you know what that is?"

"Is it not just a slightly larger fragment of the planet? What is so strange about it?" the demon man asked in confusion.

Menma shook his head. "That is the moon I mentioned in the story—the place where Kaguya Ōtsutsuki is sealed, and where Hamura Ōtsutsuki lives.

"More importantly, it is not a fragment left behind by the planet's destruction. It is an artificial object created by Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki using the power of Chakra!"
