Time flew by. At the Illuminati Building, Tony Stark and the others had quickly developed a machine capable of communicating across the Multiverse with their combined brilliance.
And nothing went wrong. They completed their plan smoothly, as expected from some of the greatest minds around.
The enormous machine did not directly connect to the Multiverse. Instead, it monitored it in real time. If a universe sent a transmission, they would detect it and, if possible, establish contact.
Cassie's idea had been excellent, but she truly lacked the ability to make it happen. Tony and the others were the ones who could.
When it came to technology, talent alone was not enough. Experience was needed, and even funding.
How could anyone play with technology without money? With nothing but passion?
Then, one night, Tony and the others suddenly received a message from the Multiverse.
"Beep! Beep! Beep!"
The massive machine flashed red. The moment Tony received the alert, he immediately abandoned the woman at his side, activated his nanotech armor, and flew over. Mr. Fantastic and the others were already there.
"What happened?"
After Tony landed, the nanotech armor on his body retracted into the reactor in his chest.
He had already undergone surgery to remove the shrapnel, but he still wore a triangular reactor on his chest. The nanites were stored inside it. It had become a habit.
"There's a signal from an unknown universe."
Mr. Fantastic, Reed, said, "They call themselves Universe 838."
"Universe 838?"
Tony frowned. They even had a designation? Didn't that mean they had been monitoring the Multiverse long before this?
They were all intelligent people. Just from that designation, they understood what it implied.
Before this, they had known nothing about universe designations. Yet the other side had directly assigned Earth—or rather, their universe—a number.
