Sudden Change

Earlier, the Council of Kangs' campaign against Earth had failed. After analyzing the reasons, they concluded that the battlefield had been thrown off balance by that group of Kryptonians who had suddenly appeared.

Those Kryptonians were practically like cheats. It was as if the Illuminati and the Council of Kangs were both players; originally, the Council of Kangs had held the advantage in strength due to their numbers. Unless the Illuminati could find just as many people, the two sides could only fight to a draw.

But now, the Illuminati had activated cheats. With only a handful of people, they could utterly crush so many of them, driving them to despair.

"I found it. They're Kryptonians."

A Kang dressed in a style resembling that of the last century spoke up, holding a book in his hands.

Immortus, wearing a tall hat, immediately had that Kang variant bring the book over.

He took one look and indeed found an introduction to Kryptonians. Heat Vision, Freezing Breath... everything described there was exactly the same as what they had witnessed earlier.

"A divine book! What book is this? Does it mention their weakness?"

Immortus became excited at once.

"Yes. Kryptonite—the fragments of the planet where they grew up—is their weakness. As long as they come into contact with it, they'll lose their powers."

That variant immediately replied.

"Where is it?"

Immortus immediately began flipping through the book, then asked, "Where is Krypton?"

He had only seen the words "Krypton" in the book.

This left the variant rather embarrassed, and he could only say, "In another world."

"What do you mean?"

Following his gesture, Immortus turned the book over.

"DC Comics, The Birth of Superman?"

"You brought me a comic book to fool me?"
