As Jing Sa anxiously watched, Jing Yi studied it for five minutes before putting away that so-called dowry list himself.
Sure enough, an idiot couldn't tell... False alarm. Jing Sa finally relaxed.
The motorcade drove neatly toward the Qin Family residence. Jing Yi was unusually quiet the whole way, so well-behaved he hardly seemed like himself. Jing Sa felt that something abnormal was bound to be suspicious, yet also thought it would be wonderful if he could just stay put. After about half an hour, they arrived at the Qin Family.
What followed was naturally the wedding ceremony.
Having been trained by the mammy attendants for several days, Jing Sa understood perfectly well how the wedding was supposed to proceed.
Qin Wenbo, the Qin Family's second young master, stood beside him holding a ceramic urn. It was draped in the Federation military flag, and inside it was Jing Yi's "husband."
Making a Scene at the Wedding!
Being reduced to marrying a man would have been one thing. Jing Yi had no prejudice against homosexuality... But what kind of nonsense was marrying a ceramic urn?
Even Jing Yi, who had always been composed and calm, could not stop a flood of what the fucks from scrolling through his mind.
What irritated him most was that after he got out of the car and people saw him in person, the wedding guests' attitudes became sharply divided.
Most of the men stared at him blankly, looking frivolous and utterly bewitched.
Most of the women wore expressions of disgust, as though they were condemning some shameless seductress.
Jing Yi, who had never received this sort of treatment before transmigrating, found it incredibly uncomfortable—sure enough, even on another planet, most humans still judged people by their looks...
Jing Yi suspected that if he lived in such a terrible environment for too long, he might develop social anxiety and become a complete shut-in who never wanted to see anyone.
From afar, General Chen gave a cold snort. This person looked unreliable at a glance. Qin Zhengyu really was a bastard!
At the center of the ceremonial hall stood a life-sized black-and-white portrait of the groom. He was a dashing young soldier. Jing Yi examined it for a moment and felt deeply that there was a reason this man had become famous throughout the Federation. It was not merely because he was handsome; more importantly, he possessed a unique temperament and a powerful presence. Even a photograph was like this—who knew how breathtaking the real man must have been?
Only then did Jing Yi begin to feel regret for this soldier who had died so young. He had once possessed such a bright and promising future... and a complete, happy marriage. Yet once dead, one knew that all things were empty. His future was naturally gone, and as for his marriage...
With a face like a coffin lid, Qin Wenbo signaled to Jing Yi that the ceremony was about to begin. Hurry up and move!
Meanwhile, General Chen's communicator suddenly rang. The signal had come through an encrypted channel. Raising an eyebrow, General Chen quietly accepted the call at once. This military-exclusive encryption technology ensured that no one besides him could receive the audio and video transmitted by the other party, so even surrounded by people, he could answer without concern and avoid missing important information.
Sure enough, no one noticed that General Chen was video-calling a man.
The man had an unfamiliar and strange face, but General Chen recognized him at once. This was Qin Meng, his trusted subordinate and the other male lead of today's wedding.
Qin Meng looked somewhat weary. "General, do you have any new instructions? I haven't gotten the item yet, but I've already found a breakthrough. I only need to wait a little longer."
General Chen said nothing. He merely stared at him for several moments with an odd mixture of sympathy in his eyes.
Qin Meng felt his scalp prickle under that stare. Frowning, he carefully checked his attire again, then looked at General Chen questioningly. "...?"
General Chen simply turned his screen around. He first aimed it at Qin Meng's memorial portrait, then swept from the altar table laden with offerings to the brightly decorated wedding venue, passing over many of the guests and Qin Wenbo holding the ceramic urn, before finally stopping on Jing Yi, dressed in red wedding robes and radiating vivid charm.
According to his plan, after filming this, he could end the call with a special look. He believed Qin Meng would understand the full story behind it.
But just as the camera stopped on Jing Yi and was about to turn away, something happened on the other end!
Jing Yi suddenly flung a gilded folded card to the ground with a smack. Then he stepped forward and stomped on it twice before lifting his chin and declaring in a spoiled, brainless tone, "This is boring. I'm not getting married! What kind of bullshit dowry is this? Are you treating me like a monkey?"
To be honest, when they saw this outrageous scene, quite a few people's first reaction was actually Here it comes, rather than This is fucking allowed? Mainly because Jing Yi's past record was simply too formidable, and he had been born with a face that looked incapable of behaving himself for even a moment. His earlier quietness had given everyone the feeling that he had taken the wrong script. Only now did it feel like the original version had finally begun.
Jing Yi had already started untying the sash of his wedding robes.
Jing Bo nearly blacked out from rage. He darted over and stopped Jing Yi, scolding him in a low voice, "If you have any complaints, we can discuss them privately. This is a wedding venue! Do you want to make such a spectacle of yourself, you little bastard?"
Jing Yi was not afraid of him in the slightest and deliberately shouted even louder, "I don't care! I just realized—what kind of dowry is that? Is this supposed to be charity for a beggar?! If I really married in with this, would I have to live on air from now on?"
