Background
Tang San awakened Blue Silver Grass in Holy Soul Village. Although Su Yuntao initially dismissed the martial soul, Tang San demanded an innate-Soul-Power test and was revealed to possess Innate Full Soul Power. Su Yuntao's praise of Su Chen's superior martial soul, coupled with his implication that Blue Silver Grass was unworthy of such talent, immediately provoked Tang San's resentment. 1
He wished to attend Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy both to advance as a Soul Master and to discover why his Mysterious Heaven Skill had stalled at its first level. Tang Hao initially refused, ordering Tang San to remain home and cook, but later allowed him to enroll. Old Jack secured a second work-study position so both Tang San and Su Chen could attend. 2
When Su Chen tried to surrender his own work-study place to spare Old Jack the journey, Tang San interpreted the gesture as calculated competition for favor rather than generosity. This suspicion became the foundation of his hostility toward Su Chen. 3
At Nuoding Academy, Yu Xiaogang deduced that Tang San possessed a second martial soul after seeing Blue Silver Grass paired with Innate Full Soul Power. Tang San immediately accepted him as his master after Yu Xiaogang promised to guide his Twin Martial Souls. 5
Personality
Tang San is ambitious, proud, and intensely determined to prove that Blue Silver Grass is not inferior. He initially suppresses his wish to attend the academy out of filial obedience to Tang Hao, but privately seeks the power and knowledge to overturn the contempt shown toward him. 2
His rivalry with Su Chen is shaped by suspicion and jealousy. Tang San treats Su Chen's attempt to help Old Jack as a struggle for favor, resents the attention Su Chen receives from Old Jack and Spirit Hall, and becomes increasingly distressed by Xiao Wu's voluntary affection for Su Chen. 3 9 14
In battle, Tang San relies on preparation, Tang Sect techniques, and hidden weapons. When defeated openly, he is willing to escalate with concealed attacks, including Silent Sleeve Arrows and later a barrage of Tang Sect projectiles. 15 41
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass
Tang San's primary awakened martial soul is Blue Silver Grass. Its plant nature is strengthened with beast-derived Soul Rings, but it is repeatedly countered by Su Chen's Golden Crow True Flame.
- Blue Silver Entanglement — First Soul Skill, obtained from a roughly 400-year Datura Snake Soul Ring; produces strengthened Blue Silver Grass bindings. 11 14
- Poisonous Thorn Strangulation — Second Soul Skill, obtained from a 500-year Ghost Spider Soul Ring; produces poisonous, barbed vines. 41
- Limitation: Both skills are burned to ash when they contact Golden Crow True Flame. 14 41
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang San's hidden second martial soul is the Clear Sky Hammer.
- Yu Xiaogang identifies its existence from Tang San's Innate Full Soul Power and Blue Silver Grass awakening. 5
- Tang San summons it directly during his later battle with Su Chen, but its hardness does not prevent the backlash that shatters his right arm. 41
Tang Sect Arts
Tang San retains several techniques from the Tang Sect.
- Mysterious Heaven Skill — His original cultivation method; its inability to break through its first level motivates his desire to attend the academy. 2
- Mysterious Jade Hand — Used to reinforce his hands in direct exchanges. 14 41
- Purple Demon Eyes — A visual technique that still fails to follow Su Chen's speed. 14 41
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Evasive footwork used to avoid close-range attacks. 14 41
- Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — A redirection technique used to deflect incoming force. 14 41
- Limitation: These techniques cannot bridge the physical and speed disparity between Tang San and Su Chen. 14 41
Hidden Weapons
Tang San carries and employs concealed Tang Sect weapons.
- Silent Sleeve Arrows — Fired at Su Chen after Tang San loses their first confrontation. 15
- Bone-Piercing Nails, Locust Stones, Willow Leaf Darts, Dragon Beard Needles, and fine golden needles — Used together in an attempted ranged barrage. 41
- Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moon Night — Storage tool from which he prepares to draw weapons during his confrontation with Su Chen. 40
- Limitation: Su Chen's crimson-gold flame barrier melts Tang San's projectiles before they can strike. 41
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moon Night — Waist-worn storage soul tool. 40
- Clear Sky Hammer — Hidden second martial soul used as a direct weapon. 41

Relationships

- Yu Xiaogang — Master. Yu Xiaogang identifies Tang San's Twin Martial Souls and recruits him by promising the guidance needed to realize his potential. 5

Story Role / Major Arcs
Holy Soul Village and Nuoding Academy
Tang San's Innate Full Soul Power establishes him as an exceptional talent, but the perceived weakness of Blue Silver Grass leaves him repeatedly humiliated. His anger toward Su Chen begins when Su Chen receives greater public praise and support. 1 2
At Nuoding Academy, he becomes Yu Xiaogang's disciple, obtains a Datura Snake Soul Ring, and develops Blue Silver Entanglement. His conflict with Su Chen escalates after he leads work-study students against Xiao Chenyu's group and is confronted by Su Chen. 5 11 14
Rivalry with Su Chen
Tang San attacks Su Chen with Blue Silver Grass, Tang Sect movement techniques, and Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon, but is overpowered by Golden Crow True Flame, superior speed, and Golden Crow Radiant Sun. After his defeat, he attempts a surprise attack with Silent Sleeve Arrows and is beaten again. 14 15
Tang Hao and Yu Xiaogang both frame Su Chen as a necessary rival: Tang Hao views him as a whetstone, while Yu Xiaogang insists that stronger Soul Rings will eventually allow Tang San's Blue Silver Grass to defeat him. 15 16
Shrek Academy Conflict
After reuniting with Xiao Wu in Soul Hunting Town, Tang San demands that she return to him and accuses Su Chen of abandoning and exploiting her. Xiao Wu rejects him directly and warns that continued interference will end their friendship. 39 40
Tang San then attacks Su Chen alongside Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun. His Blue Silver Grass, hidden weapons, and Clear Sky Hammer all fail; Su Chen defeats the three attackers with little difficulty and shatters Tang San's right arm during the Clear Sky Hammer exchange. 41
Following the battle, Tang San returns to Shrek Academy humiliated and increasingly fearful that Su Chen's superior cultivation, rare Soul Ring configuration, and access to powerful mentors will leave him permanently behind. 50
