A Man in Marvel, Working for the System
A basin of cold water was poured over Terry's head. Terry woke up flailing his arms and legs.
"@¥%*&..."
Furious, he immediately started swearing—Terry's reaction was perfectly normal. He was still drunk.
"Terry." A calm voice spoke.
Only then did Terry notice someone else in the room.
If no one was here, then who had splashed him with water?!
Terry instantly sobered up halfway. He braced both hands on the armrests and sat up straight, making himself look a little more... solemn.
It was not that Terry was polite. It was simply that, when facing the black muzzle of a gun, most people became rather restrained and cautious.
Terry recognized that gun. It was his gun. When he came back today, he seemed to have casually tossed it into a drawer, fully loaded.
He recognized the person holding it, too.
Geralt.
Terry had seen Geralt many times, either passing him face-to-face or spotting him from afar.
That was why Terry hated Geralt. Hated him intensely.
Some people were as noisy as clowns, yet no one noticed them.
Others stood quietly and still drew every eye.
What was more, he and Geralt had had a minor conflict in the barn.
"It's you! Geralt, what do you want? This is my RV. You're committing a crime!" Terry forced himself to stay calm.
"Pfft!"
Geralt was usually serious during interrogations, unless he truly could not hold it in.
A crime?
How laughable for those words to come from Terry's mouth.
Geralt wiped the smile from his face. "Terry, you should know why I'm here. I still have other people to visit tonight, so don't play dumb and waste my time."
"I ask," Geralt said calmly, but with an unquestionable edge. "You answer."
Terry fell silent
