Late at night, I suddenly felt awful, so I got up to chat with you readers for a bit. I'd just had a fight with my girlfriend, and it looked like we were going to break up. So be it. Wasn't that just how things were these days? At least Sixue had you to tell about the pain. We might not know each other, but as men, you understood what it was like when this happened. It was hard to talk to anyone close to me about it, haha, so here I was, rambling to you instead! Sorry to bother you.
Anyway, let's talk about the book. I wanted to write an Abyss of my own, with a Protagonist who had a human soul, a demon's body, and a streak of demonic cruelty and swagger. I didn't much like those demons straight out of myth who knew nothing but killing and fighting. The mysterious Abyss held so many strange and hidden places. Why not explore them? Why spend all that time fighting and killing? Of course, there would still be battles for supremacy and plenty of showing off. Things were about to reach a climax, and you'd see.
I didn't understand why writing about demons meant they had to be so evil and cruel. After all, in Sixue's setting, the Protagonist was someone with a human soul. The Abyss was one enormous cage, and the demons in it were just pitiful prisoners. I couldn't say any more, hehe, or I'd spoil it!
Sixue only wanted to show that the Abyss was like the helpless, dog-eat-dog world we lived in. Cruel as it was, it still held a glimmer of dawn! Killing a girl to attain the Dao and all that—Sixue couldn't write that. This Protagonist was like the real Sixue:
