Background & History

Qing Lin lived peacefully with her mother until mercenaries discovered the scales on her wrists and her Snake-Person heritage. They killed her mother, called Qing Lin a “bringer of disaster,” and imprisoned her for sale alongside captured snake women in the Tagor Desert 45 46.

Xiao Qing noticed her human legs, faint wrist scales, and hidden special constitution while passing the caravan. After learning what happened to her mother, he tore open her cage, promised revenge, and destroyed the mercenary caravan with Zi Yan 45 46. Qing Lin came to regard Xiao Qing and Zi Yan as her only support, while Xiao Qing promised she could remain with him 46 51.

Xiao Qing treated her injuries and began her cultivation with medicinal liquid refined using the Life Spirit Flame. He later arranged for her constitution to awaken, supplied snake-type magical beasts for her pupils to control, and sought cultivation methods suited to her growth 46 58 59 89.

After traveling with Xiao Qing and Zi Yan, Qing Lin entered Jia Nan Academy’s Inner Academy directly on Xiao Qing’s recommendation; Vice Principal Hu Gan considered her cultivation extraordinary for her apparent age 143.

Personality

Initially timid, frightened, and deeply traumatized by her mother’s murder and captivity, Qing Lin gradually becomes trusting and affectionate toward Xiao Qing and Zi Yan after they rescue and protect her 46 49 51.

She is diligent and determined to become useful to the people she loves. She declines Zi Yan’s invitation to play in favor of cultivation, explaining that she wants to help Xiao Qing and Zi Yan as soon as possible 58. Though she wishes to grow stronger, she remains kind-hearted: witnessing the Snake-People Tribe’s suffering leaves her conflicted despite her resentment toward the heritage that caused her persecution 101.
