In 2018 in the World of the Living, a strange virus began spreading through the air and entering human bloodstreams, infecting people and turning them into terrifying monsters.

The entire human world instantly descended into chaos. Nations began dispatching armies into the cities to battle these unknown creatures.

Yet the fighting went terribly. Ordinary human firearms simply could not kill these monsters.

Humanity suffered defeat after defeat.

So the nations united and began researching these mutated creatures.

With scientists from every country working together, they soon thoroughly understood the virus's various characteristics.

They then named the creatures infected by this virus "Gastrea."

They also developed Varanium weapons capable of restraining them.

In the second year after the disaster broke out, in 2020, nations across the world once again launched an all-out war against Gastrea.

But by then, fewer than one billion humans remained in the entire world.

Due to the explosive growth in the number of Gastrea, the armies of every nation continued to suffer defeat after defeat.

They lost vast stretches of territory and were eventually driven into cramped regions, where they built wall after wall of Varanium. Relying on Gastrea's fear of Varanium, they barely managed to protect a place to survive.

They clung to life in fear and despair.

Yet in such a desperate situation, an infected pregnant mother gave birth to the first baby girl after the outbreak. From that moment on, the entire human world was given hope.

Though this child possessed the traits of one cursed by Gastrea, she had also retained Gastrea Virus within her body, granting her strength far beyond that of ordinary humans.

However, the more she used that power, the more the Gastrea Virus eroded her young body. Once the erosion exceeded eighty percent, she would still become a monster.
