Silence fell over the carriage once more.
The only sounds were the rumble of its wheels over the road and the occasional jolt.
Even Otto, driving the carriage, could feel the oppressive air inside. He instinctively glanced back.
But Subaru Natsuki's crimson eyes snapped toward him, startling him so badly he nearly dropped the Ground Dragon whip.
"Otto, stop the carriage! Now!"
"Y-yes! Yes, sir! I'm stopping!"
In a panic, Otto obeyed without thinking. He pulled the reins and brought the two galloping Ground Dragons to a halt.
Subaru's figure rippled, then vanished from the carriage and appeared in front of Otto.
"You're finally here. I've waited so long for you, I can hardly wait to see you weeping in front of me!"
No sooner had Subaru spoken than a group of figures completely shrouded in black robes appeared nearby and surrounded the carriage.
"Hahahaha! Found you! Found you! What an enticing scent of the Witch! So this is the one our mistress loves!"
Maniacal laughter rang out from nowhere. Will and Julius, who had just stepped down from the carriage, frowned.
"The Witch Cult!"
As they spoke, a figure plummeted from the sky. When it landed, both men's expressions turned grave.
"The Sin Archbishop of Sloth—Petelgeuse!"
"Hahahaha..."
Petelgeuse's crazed laughter stopped. He tilted his head toward the two men behind Subaru.
"Oh! I didn't expect anyone here to recognize me. But that doesn't matter. Once I offer the one our mistress favors as a sacrifice to her,
she'll surely sense my love for her. Heh-heh. Don't you agree, lucky one so dearly loved by our mistress?"
Sloth's deathly pale face twisted toward Subaru, his eyes alight with manic excitement.
"Subaru, be careful! He's the Witch Cult's Sin Archbishop of Sloth. He's extremely dangerous!"
Will and Julius had already drawn
