Nameless Fury

Though none of them understood why Subaru Natsuki was so furious, they followed him without hesitation.

Meanwhile, in a forest beyond the barrier surrounding the small village below Earl's Manor...

Meili had changed into fitted leather assassin's gear. A great host of magical beasts of every kind trailed behind her.

She stared grimly at the ground beneath one enormous beast. It was empty. Subaru Natsuki's corpse was gone.

As soon as she had run out of the village, she had summoned every beast she had contracted, ready to slaughter its inhabitants.

As a member of an assassination organization, she had received an assignment long ago: hide in this village and await further orders.

Today, when Meili had nearly forgotten she was an assassin, those orders had finally come. She was to work with another assassin from the organization to invade Earl's Manor. She was also to kill every villager on the Earl's land.

At last she could drop her disguise. She had killed the two villagers who had taken her in without hesitation. After being their daughter for so long, collecting a little interest was only fair!

But just as she stepped outside, she ran into Subaru Natsuki. It reminded her how, some time ago, she had grown bored and used her beasts to place a curse on the village's annoying children.

Those children were unbearable. She was a noble beast tamer, yet every day the little brats dragged her off to play in the mud and take part in their tedious games.

Refusing would make her stand out, and that would make it harder to hide who she was.

But their childish games made her sick. So she had decided to kill every brat in the village with an invisible curse, then pretend she had survived by sheer luck.
