Subaru Natsuki's Parents

Night fell.

Back at Emilia's side, Subaru Natsuki excitedly took her hand and led her out of the manor to a cherry tree.

"Subaru, what are we doing? Is this a date?"

Seeing how excited he was, Emilia couldn't help asking shyly.

Subaru hurriedly shook his head.

"Emilia-tan, would you like to meet my parents?"

Emilia froze, then panic flashed through her eyes.

"Subaru, why didn't you tell me sooner? If I'm meeting your parents, shouldn't I prepare gifts? And should I change into something more formal?"

Watching Emilia grow flustered, Subaru felt a rush of happiness. She hadn't refused.

He placed both hands on her shoulders, calming her.

"Emilia, my parents are ordinary people. They won't stand on ceremony. I'm sure they'll be overjoyed just to see you!"

Doubt flickered in Emilia's eyes.

"Really? You're not lying to me, are you, Subaru?"

"Of course not!"

A confident smile lit up Subaru's face.

"After all, their useless son is bringing home such a beautiful girlfriend. How could they not be thrilled?"

Feeling the heat of his gaze, Emilia rubbed her crimson cheek.

"Subaru isn't useless, and I'm not nearly as beautiful as you say! But why are you taking me to meet your parents so late?"

Her voice was barely louder than a mosquito's hum.

"I don't know either! My master told me I had to wait until three in the morning!"

Subaru glanced at the new watch on his wrist. It was already 2:58 a.m.

"Let's wait two more minutes, Emilia. My master wouldn't lie to me!"

Emilia nodded. Leaning against each other beneath the cherry tree, they quietly admired the enormous full moon in the New World sky.

Two minutes later, Subaru raised the token in his hand and poured a vast surge of Chakra into it.
