Upper Rank Three Akaza

Makomo let out a slow breath and surveyed the wreckage of the battlefield. Her gaze finally settled on the woman who had fainted from fright.

She went over to check on her. Finding that the woman had only passed out from shock, Makomo felt a flicker of relief.

But just as Makomo was about to carry the woman away, she stopped and looked toward the entrance to the alley.

Beneath the moonlight stood a young man with short red hair, black markings across his bloodless skin, and golden eyes that gleamed in the dark. He studied her with excitement. The characters for "Upper Rank Three" were inscribed across his eyes.

Makomo silently rose to her feet and faced the man who had appeared out of nowhere. Her hand returned to the hilt of her sword.

"Who are you?"

The man did not answer at once. Instead, he clapped slowly, the sharp sounds jarring in the quiet night.

"I was only passing by, but I never expected to see such a wonderful fight. You killed a demon by wearing it down. You're the first human I've ever seen do that. Now I'm itching for a fight myself!"

Barely containing his excitement, Akaza approached Makomo step by step.

As Upper Rank Three of the Twelve Kizuki under Muzan, his greatest pleasure was seeking out powerful opponents.

But so few humans could stand against him that he often felt lonely at the top.
