Background
The Uchiha and Senju are identified as Konoha's founding clans. Under the Sarutobi administration, however, the Uchiha believe their role in the village's founding has been minimized while the Senju and Sarutobi legacies are emphasized instead. 59 81
Following the Nine-Tails Rebellion, civilian distrust and official suspicion intensify. The village orders the clan to relocate to the Naka River outskirts; Uchiha members interpret the order as isolation and exile, particularly after promised relocation funding is canceled. 1 14 28
The relocation crisis exposes a split between moderate and hardline factions. Fugaku initially seeks a compromise, while Hane argues that the clan should accept relocation only in exchange for compensation and political leverage. His public defeat of hostile elders and his speech in the assembly establish him as the clan's recognized young leader. 15 16
Leadership and Organization
- Uchiha Fugaku leads the clan during its early conflict with Konoha, but formally transfers the clan seal and leadership to Hane after the latter's faction demonstrates overwhelming support. 58
- Uchiha Hane becomes clan head at age seven and later assumes the Hokage's office after Sarutobi's removal. 58 114
- The Moderate and Hardline Factions are dissolved under Hane's order; future factional gatherings are treated as attempts to divide the clan. 59
- The Uchiha Military Police Force is reformed into a specialized, evidence-based institution supported by a Legal Affairs Department and civilian clerical staff. 43 44
- The Twelve Golden Guards serve as Hane's most fanatically loyal enforcers. Their Spirit Marks bind them to secrecy and grant mental-shock attacks. 36 103
- The Clan Guards become the clan's elite force. By the fifth year of Hane's rule, they include roughly 1,000 Three-Tomoe Uchiha. 70 130
- Hane later opens most Military Police positions to other Konoha clans and civilian ninja, using a merit-based officer system to build political alliances beyond the Uchiha. 70 75
Abilities & Resources
Sharingan Evolution
The clan's defining strength is the Sharingan. Three-Tomoe users are treated as combatants capable of rivaling ordinary Jonin, while elite members develop Mangekyō and later multi-tomoe forms beyond conventional limits. 85 104 130
- The Heart-Refining Formation and spiritual pills accelerate ocular development. 43 45
- Advanced ocular techniques differ by individual, including Retsuyō's Time Emperor, Wada's Painful Reverse Mirror, and Sosuke's Eye of Instant Death. 104 146 147
- Multi-tomoe evolution strengthens a wielder's inherent Mangekyō technique rather than following the conventional Eternal Mangekyō path. 104
- Elite Uchiha deploy Susanoo on a mass scale; twenty-four wielders lead an Imperial battlefield offensive. 167
Heart-Refining Formation and Spirit Marks
Hane uses Formation Arts, medicinal pills, and psychological trials to create a loyal inner circle and increase the clan's spiritual power. 33 36
- Spirit Marks prevent bearers from revealing protected information and become lethal mental traps against memory-probing techniques. 36
- Marked members can unleash mental-shock attacks that grow stronger with their spiritual power. 36
- The process creates loyalty as well as power, but is also used to enforce ideological control over Hane's followers. 33 103
Medicine and Herb Cultivation
The Uchiha establish a protected medicinal industry based on Hane's cultivation methods. 44 72
- Qi-Gathering Pills rapidly increase chakra without stated side effects and become sought-after Military Police benefits. 75
- Healing medicines, chakra-restoring liquids, ointments, and powders provide the clan with income and political leverage. 44 73
- Beauty-Preserving Pills preserve youth and improve appearance, becoming a major source of Uchiha wealth. 79
- Herbs cultivated within Uchiha territory wither when removed; intruders attempting to steal them can be trapped in persistent genjutsu. 79
Military and Political Power
The clan develops from a marginalized police force into a state-defining military institution. 43 68 120
- The reformed Military Police Force handles major crimes, legal disputes, and village security while relying on evidence and formal procedure. 43 44
- Its public handling of the 414 Human Trafficking Case establishes that former Anbu and politically connected criminals are subject to prosecution. 75 76
- Under Hane's later reforms, the clan leads Konoha's security apparatus while participating in broader administrative, educational, and military modernization. 120 130

Story Role / Major Arcs
Marginalization and Relocation
The clan begins under public hostility and political pressure following the Nine-Tails Rebellion. Konoha's proposed relocation, canceled compensation, and Root surveillance turn the Uchiha's distrust into open resistance. 14 28 30
Hane's Rise
Hane earns recognition by defeating elders, persuading the assembly to demand compensation, and defeating Retsuyō despite the latter's Mangekyō Sharingan. His strength and rhetoric make him the clan's central political figure. 16 24 35
Internal Consolidation
After becoming clan head, Hane abolishes the clan's factions and cultivates a loyal elite through Spirit Marks, formations, and medicinal resources. His followers later purge Setsuna and other dissidents, using executions and cover-ups to preserve internal unity. 36 59 103
Economic and Institutional Revival
The Uchiha turn their compensation shops into restaurants, retail businesses, pharmaceutical outlets, and herb-production networks. At the same time, they professionalize the Military Police Force, improve public order, and reduce their financial dependence on Konoha. 43 44 75
Control of Konoha
By exposing Danzo's human experiments and Sarutobi's complicity, the clan gains support from Konoha's other major clans. Sarutobi is removed, and Hane takes the Hokage's seat with the Uchiha at the center of the new government. 111 112 114
Imperial Expansion
Under Hane's rule, the Uchiha become the Empire's royal family and the core of an expanded military state. Five years later, their forces include a thousand Three-Tomoe Clan Guards, twenty-four Mangekyō-level fighters, and elite multi-tomoe captains. 130 167 288
