The giant crimson cocoon shuddered and sank nearly twenty meters into the ground.
But Lord Dusthowl's face darkened. The arm holding the Hurricane Scepter trembled slightly.
"Why the hell are these chains so tough? They nearly dislocated my arm!"
He shook out his arm, then gripped the scepter with both hands.
Manuel raised the Hurricane Scepter again and roared, "Cleave!"
Boom!
The giant crimson cocoon shook violently and sank another dozen meters.
Lord Dusthowl stared at the unscathed cocoon in disbelief.
"What the hell are these chains made of?"
"I refuse to believe I can't cut through you!"
He raised the Hurricane Scepter once more.
"Stop, Manuel!"
A huge cyan hand appeared out of thin air, seized his right wrist, and forced him to stop.
Ripples spread through the air. A cyan Hurricane Monster, slightly shorter than Lord Dusthowl, appeared without a sound.
A vicious scar ran across the bridge of his nose.
Lord Dusthowl looked at the hand, his face darkening. "Hes, let go!"
"You and Imanol have never gotten along, but you shouldn't stop me now!"
"If I hadn't stopped you," Hes said grimly, "that last strike wouldn't have saved Imanol. It might have killed him!"
Lord Dusthowl's face turned black. He whipped his head around and snapped, "Nonsense!"
Hes yanked Lord Dusthowl's arm down by force.
"Enough! Take a good look at those chains!"
"They're connected to the prisoner's flesh and soul, damn it!"
"That strike of yours would cut through more than the chains. It would cut through Imanol's body and soul too!"
"What...?" Manuel's expression shifted. He focused on the details of the giant crimson cocoon.
Law Runes flowed ceaselessly across the Crimson Chain. Lord Dusthowl was one of the strongest under the Lord of Hurricanes. Though he could not identify the runes, he
