After entrusting his wife and child to Mordo for guidance, Kaecilius felt even better.
He walked all the way to the training room with a cheerful mood.
As soon as he stepped through the door, however, he was shocked by a pair of pitch-black men and women.
"Sorry, I walked into the wrong room."
Kaecilius decisively dropped an apology and backed out of the training room.
A few seconds later, though, he pushed the door open and walked back in.
This pair of pitch-black individuals thumped down onto their knees in front of Kaecilius, each hugging one of his thighs and aggrievedly wailing at the top of their lungs.
The man yelled straight from the throat, "Teacher! I'm your apprentice Fred!"
The woman called out timidly, "Teacher, it's me, Vivian!"
That soft, weak little voice seemed to carry infinite grievance...
At that moment, a third figure in the training room stood up from the ground.
She walked over quickly and bowed to Kaecilius with a calm expression.
"Instructor Kaecilius, welcome back."
Kaecilius nodded at the short-haired female apprentice. "Good day, Lena."
Then, he lowered his head to carefully identify the two people hugging his legs.
Though they had received treatment after being blasted by the fireball, the skin on their faces was pitch black and would take a few days to recover.
Through their facial contours, Kaecilius finally recognized their identities.
"Fred? Vivian?"
"How on earth did you two turn out like this?!"
Fred could no longer hold it back and let out a wail.
He tightly hugged his instructor's thigh, crying as he accused Lena.
"Teacher, it's all Lena's fault!"
"After you left yesterday, Vivian and I followed your instructions to review."
"But Lena just had to make trouble! She forced us to do a combat drill!"
